🌸 Nutrition plays a key role in women’s health — from day-to-day wellbeing to navigating the different stages of life.

Feeling low in energy? Going through a new life stage? Noticing changes as your hormones shift?

At Desert Dietitians, we focus on sustainable nutrition and lifestyle changes that support your health for the long term — not quick fixes or restrictive diets.

We don’t believe there’s one “special diet” that works for everyone. Instead, we look at your individual nutrition needs, lifestyle and goals to help you:
✨ Build a nourishing, balanced diet
✨ Identify nutrients that may support your health
✨ Explore whether supplements have a place in your routine
✨ Find practical strategies that fit your lifestyle
✨ Support nutrition needs through different stages of life

Whether you’re navigating fertility, pregnancy, PCOS, perimenopause, menopause or simply wanting to feel your best, personalised nutrition can help you make informed choices that work for you.

💬 You asked, we’re answering!

We get lots of questions about what actually happens when you see a dietitian — so we thought we’d answer some of our most frequently asked questions. Swipe to see if we answered yours 👉

🌿 Do I need a referral?
For most appointments, no! You can contact us directly to book.

🥗 Do I have to follow a strict diet?
Absolutely not. We’re all about practical, realistic nutrition — no fad diets or perfection required.

👩‍⚕️ What can a dietitian help with?
So much more than weight loss! We support nutrition for diabetes, heart health, gut health, women’s health, pregnancy, fertility, PCOS, perimenopause, NDIS nutrition, paediatrics and more.

💻 Can I have an appointment via telehealth?
Yes! Telehealth can be a great option, particularly if you’re living outside Alice Springs.

📍 Where are you located?
We’re based in Alice Springs and work with people across Central Australia and remote communities.

💚 Still have a question?
There’s no such thing as a silly nutrition question. Send us a DM or get in touch with our team — we’re happy to help!

Women's Health Week 2026
Day 1: To Fuel
This year's theme is "Do It Anyway" and Day 1 encourages women to fuel their bodies with practical, achievable nutrition choices.
As women age, our nutrition needs change. Paying attention to key nutrients such as calcium, iron and vitamin D can help support bone health, energy levels, muscle function and overall wellbeing.

Calcium 🦴
Calcium is important for maintaining strong bones and reducing the risk of osteoporosis.
Good sources include: 🥛 Milk 🧀 Cheese 🥣 Yoghurt 🐟 Tinned salmon and sardines (with bones) 🥦 Broccoli 🫘 Beans 🌰 Almonds

Iron ⚡
Iron helps carry oxygen around the body and supports energy levels.
Good sources include: 🥩 Lean red meat 🍗 Chicken 🐟 Fish 🥬 Spinach 🫘 Lentils and beans 🌰 Nuts and seeds

Vitamin D ☀️
Vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium and supports bone health.
Sources include: ☀️ Safe sun exposure 🐟 Oily fish 🥚 Eggs 🥛 Fortified foods

Rather than aiming for perfection, focus on small steps: ✨ Add a calcium-rich food to your day ✨ Include an iron-rich food at meals ✨ Support healthy vitamin D levels
Remember, every small choice counts.

✨ A little Desert Dietitians update! ✨

It’s been a BIG few months for our team, with a few exciting changes happening behind the scenes — and we can’t wait to share them with you! 💚

You may know that our Director, Katelyn, is currently on maternity leave, having started her leave in July. While she enjoys this special time with her family, the Desert Dietitians team has been keeping things running in the clinic.

🌟 Firstly, a very warm welcome to Breanne!
Bre has joined us as our Allied Health Assistant & Administration Officer and has been holding down the fort in the office over the past month. She has been an absolute ⭐️ and we’re so grateful to have her as part of the team!

🌿 We’re also excited to welcome our new Senior Dietitian, Megan!
Megan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Desert Dietitians, with nearly 10 years working in the nutrition and dietetics space. We’re so excited to have her on board and can’t wait for you to get to know her.

This year, we’ve also said goodbye to Hinako and Alison as they head off on new adventures. We’ve certainly missed having them around the office, but we’re so grateful for everything they brought to our team and the families we support. 💚

A huge thank you to all of our wonderful clients and families for your patience and understanding as our new team members settle in, learn the ropes and find their feet.

We’re excited for this next chapter at Desert Dietitians and look forward to seeing you in the clinic! 🌿✨
