IS CHOCOLATE GOOD FOR YOUR SKIN? ☕️🍫 ❔
Sometimes it seems like things never slow down. We go from hustling toward one new month to the next with hardly a chance to exhale. But at LAB when we do find moments to reflect and unwind, we love to do it with an indulgent hot chocolate. Something about the velvety froth makes for a perfect compliment to our need to chill.
Did you know that cocoa was a superfood? Chocolate is a food most of us love! However, it is so often associated with guilt – it’ll make me fat, I’ll have pimples next week, it’s not good for me… and yet with its cocktail of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, cocoa-rich dark chocolate has multiple beauty benefits for your skin.
🍫 As chocolate is anti-inflammatory, we can say it will benefit your skin. Not directly, but if your body is less inflamed, you will have better general health and your skin will be clearer.
🍫 Rich in vitamins A, B1, C, D and E, plus iron and calcium, chocolate nourishes your skin from the inside out to replace lost moisture.
🍫 The relaxing effects of enjoying a smooth, melt-in-the-mouth soft (dark) chocolate will help you relax, sleep better and improve your mood. You’ll be happier and feel less stressed. Dark chocolate gives you a happy high and prevents the breakdown of collagen - the wrinkle-busting protein that keeps skin plump and youthful.
🍫 It prevents ageing! Thanks to its flavonoids (a type of antioxidant) dark chocolate offers some protection from harmful UV rays therefore reducing signs of sun damage such as wrinkles, leathery skin, liver spots, actinic keratosis, and solar elastosis.
🍫 As it also contains calories, caffeine and some amount of sugar, it should be consumed in limited quantities. one or two blocks of dark chocolate should be sufficient at a time. Go for Organic this variety contains 70% or more of Cocoa content.
Who knew? What’s your go-to beverage when you want to relax?
