Portable pools are popular, but they pose a serious drowning risk for young children. If you’re planning on setting up a portable pool to help the kids cool off this summer, there are a few important things to consider to keep everyone safe:

🏊‍♂️ In Victoria, any portable pool with a depth of 30cm or more is legally required to be surrounded by a safety barrier.
🏊‍♂️ Always actively supervise children when in or around portable pools. For toddlers, that means staying within arm’s reach at all times.
🏊‍♂️ After use, always empty your portable pool and store it away safely to prevent rain or sprinklers from filling it.

Coding Club is back at Ararat Library for 2026! 📚💻

Starting Wednesday 4 February, kids aged 8–11 can drop in from 4 pm to 5 pm to:
- Learn how to build their own computer game
- Try out robotics with our new Sphero Bolt+ robots
- Explore how coding connects to the real world
No need to commit for the whole term – kids can come along when it suits them, and we’ll meet them at their level. The library has laptops available, so there’s no need to bring a device.

Spaces are limited to 4–5 kids per group, and if we have lots of interest, we may open another session on a different afternoon.
