❄️ NESS Winter Warmth Drive ❄️

It's getting cold in Armidale.

The rising cost of living is making things tough for many people, and nobody should have to go through winter without something warm to wrap up in.

If you have any spare blankets, doonas, throws, sleeping bags, or warm bedding that you no longer need, we'd love to pass them on to people in our community who could use a helping hand.

All donated items must be clean and freshly washed.

If you or someone you know could use a blanket this winter, please reach out to us. There is no cost and no judgement. We simply want to help where we can.

To donate or request a blanket, send us a Facebook message, email us at [email protected], or call our office on (02) 6707 2834.

Let's work together to keep our community warm this winter ❤️

🏳️‍🌈 Happy Pride Month

At NESS, we believe everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, valued, and supported for who they are.

Our commitment is simple.

We welcome everyone.
We respect everyone.
We support everyone.

To all LGBTQIA+ participants, families, staff, and community members, we see you and we're proud to stand alongside you.

🎲 Do you love Dungeons & Dragons?

🎮 Are you into gaming?

❤️ Ever thought about becoming a Support Worker?

We might have the perfect role for you.

We're looking for someone in Armidale who is comfortable being a Dungeon Master for Dungeons & Dragons and enjoys gaming, whether that's PC, console, tabletop, or anything in between.

Support work experience would be fantastic, but it isn't essential. What matters most is having the right attitude, being reliable, and wanting to make a positive difference in someone's life.

For the right person, there are plenty of hours available and an immediate start.

If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you!

We've spoken to a lot of people this week who are feeling worried about the future of the NDIS ❤️

If you've seen recent news reports, social media posts, or discussions about proposed NDIS changes, it's completely understandable to feel anxious.

Our message is simple:

Please don't panic.

There are discussions happening about the future of the NDIS, but many of these changes are still proposals, consultations, or future reforms that will take time to develop.

Right now, if you're a participant, your focus should remain on:

✅ Your goals
✅ Your supports
✅ Your wellbeing
✅ Living the life you want to live

If changes do occur in the future, participants, families, providers, advocates, and the wider disability community will all have time to understand what they mean and how to respond.

At NESS, we're keeping a close eye on developments and we'll continue sharing clear, practical information as it becomes available.

Most importantly:

You are not facing this alone.

If you're feeling worried, have questions, or simply want to talk through your situation, reach out to us. Sometimes a conversation can help cut through the noise and uncertainty.

The disability community has faced change before, and we'll face this together too. 💙

One of the things we love most about supporting people across Armidale, Uralla, Guyra and Tamworth is seeing just how different every community is.

Some people love the open spaces, some love the sense of community and some love that you can actually get to know your neighbours.

So we're curious...

What do you love most about living in the New England region?

Tell us in the comments 👇

We'd love to hear your favourite thing about calling this part of NSW home. ❤️

Yesterday, we put the call out to the Armidale community asking for help supporting one of our clients who urgently needed furniture and household items.

By the end of the day… this incredible community had helped provide absolutely everything she needed. 💙

Honestly, we are blown away.

The amount of kindness, generosity, shares, messages, donations, and people willing to help was overwhelming in the best possible way.

Complete strangers stepped up without hesitation simply because someone in our community needed support.

It is moments like this that remind us how lucky we are to live and work in Armidale. We see kindness every day in this role, but yesterday was something really special.

To everyone who donated, shared the post, tagged friends, or reached out to help… thank you. You made a genuine difference to someone’s life.

We are incredibly proud to be part of this community. ❤️

❤️ UPDATE ❤️

We are honestly blown away by the kindness and generosity the Armidale community has shown already.

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated items, shared the post, tagged people, or reached out to help. It genuinely makes us proud to be part of such a caring community.

At this stage, we are still urgently looking for:

• Small dining table
• Small entertainment unit
• Fridge
• Washing machine

If anyone is able to help with any of the above, please message the NESS page and we’ll organise pickup around Armidale.

Thank you again everyone. The support shown so far has been incredible ❤️

⚠️ ARMIDALE COMMUNITY, WE NEED YOUR HELP ⚠️

One of our NESS clients here in Armidale has found themselves in urgent need of basic furniture and household items, and we’re hoping our amazing local community might be able to help ❤️

We are currently looking for donations of:

🛏 Double bed + frame (or larger) and linens
💡 Lamp
🛋 Bedside table
🍽 Small dining table and chairs
📺 Small TV entertainment unit
🍲 Microwave
🧊 Fridge
🧺 Washing machine
🪞 Dresser
🍽 Plates / crockery
🍴 Cutlery
🛁 Towels

If you have any of these items sitting unused around the house, even just one item could make a huge difference.

Please message the NESS page and we’ll organise pickup anywhere around Armidale.

Even if you can’t donate, sharing this post into local Armidale groups would mean the world to us and our client 💙

Thank you again, Armidale. This community always shows up when it matters.

What people don’t always see about disability support work is how much the little things matter.

The check-ins.
The patience.
The encouragement.
The consistency.

Sometimes support is helping someone achieve a big goal.

Other times it’s simply making sure someone feels comfortable, included, and supported through an ordinary day.

That human side of support matters a lot to us at NESS ❤️

And honestly, we’ve got a pretty incredible team doing it every day across Armidale and the New England region.
