Meet Cara 👋— Practice Manager

Cara has been part of the heart of Armidale Ultrasound since day one. Over seven years ago, she and her mum, Tanja, opened the clinic together, and Cara has been there ever since, helping shape the warm, welcoming practice it is today.

Cara’s nursing background, combined with the knowledge she has gained from our experienced sonographers, allows her to bring both clinical understanding and a genuine passion for making healthcare feel simple, accessible and stress-free for every patient.

She has a particular soft spot for our obstetric patients and loves being part of such a special time in their journey. Cara is also proud to help provide our 3D ultrasound scans in-house, making it easier for families to access these services locally.

For Cara, it’s all about creating a smooth experience — from the moment you make an appointment to the moment you walk out the door. She’s passionate about ensuring patients feel cared for, comfortable and well looked after every step of the way.

Seven years on, Cara remains a familiar and friendly face at Armidale Ultrasound — and a big part of what makes our clinic feel like home.

Meet Tanja 👋— Director & Head Sonographer/Radiographer

Tanja is the founder and Director of Armidale Ultrasound, opening the clinic with her husband, Marius, and daughter, Cara, over seven years ago. With more than 35 years of experience in medical imaging and two university degrees, Tanja has built a wealth of knowledge throughout her career, working across Ireland, South Africa and various locations throughout Australia.

For Tanja, healthcare has always been about more than the scan itself. She has a genuine passion for ensuring everyone can access quality healthcare and believes every patient deserves to be treated with respect, compassion and fairness, regardless of their circumstances.

Her extensive experience is matched by a warm and caring approach. Tanja takes the time to listen, explain and make patients feel comfortable, bringing a calm and reassuring presence to every appointment.

Having built Armidale Ultrasound alongside her husband and daughter, Tanja is incredibly proud of the clinic and the team they have created — a place where experience, quality medical imaging and genuine patient care come together.

Meet Dr Pearson 👋

We’re kicking off our Meet the Team series by introducing
Dr Pearson, who has been part of our team since 2023.

Dr Pearson works alongside our highly skilled sonographers to provide ultrasound-guided procedures, combining specialist medical expertise with the precision and care of our imaging team.

Ultrasound guidance allows procedures to be performed with real-time imaging, helping our team achieve accurate needle placement while keeping patient care and comfort at the forefront.

We’re incredibly lucky to have Dr Pearson’s expertise as part of our team — and even luckier to have such a wonderful group of clinicians working together to provide the best possible experience for our patients. 💙

The National Lung Cancer Screening Program is a national health program that launched on 1 July 2025. It uses low-dose CT scans to screen for lung cancer in people at high risk, aiming to detect cancer early and save lives. We are happy to say we can now offer this free service at Armidale Ultrasound ! (With a valid referral)

People eligible for free screening include those who:
- Are between 50 and 70 years old.
- Show no signs or symptoms of lung cancer
- Are either currently smoking or quit within the past 10 years.

At Armidale Ultrasound, we are incredibly proud of our team and the care they provide to our community every day.

Our staff bring more than 60 years of combined experience in medical imaging.

They are skilled, compassionate local people who work hard to make every patient feel supported, respected and cared for.

We always strive to provide the best possible service, but we are also human.

Like any workplace, there may be times when someone feels their experience could have been better. When that happens, we genuinely want to know.
We encourage anyone with a concern to contact us directly by email or speak with us in person, so we have the opportunity to listen, understand what has happened and address it properly.

We have been deeply saddened by the personal and hurtful comments made about members of our team in a local online group.

Constructive feedback is always welcome, but public attacks against individual staff members are unnecessary and can have a significant impact on the people behind the uniform.

We remain committed to our core values: kindness, professionalism, integrity, respect and providing high-quality care to our local community.

🎉 Celebrating 7 Years of Armidale Ultrasound 🎉

What started as a small clinic with a simple vision has grown into something we are incredibly proud of.

Over the past 7 years, Armidale Ultrasound has evolved, expanded our team, moved into a new location, and continued to grow our services to better support our community.

Through every stage of that growth, one thing has never changed — our commitment to providing a high level of care while bulk billing wherever possible, because accessible healthcare matters.

We are so grateful for our amazing team, whose compassion, dedication, and hard work make Armidale Ultrasound what it is every single day. And to our wonderful community — thank you for your trust, support, and for allowing us to be part of your healthcare journey.
