Our deep core connection ......

Think of your deep core as a supportive container inside your body. The breathing muscle at the top ( the diaphragm) acts as the lid, your deep abs (beneath the 6 pack muscle ) wrap around the middle like a corset, and your pelvic floor is the grounding base which supports our pelvic anatomy.

These muscles work as a team. When you move and breathe, they gently contract and relax together to protect your spine and support our internal organs, that being the bladder, re**um and womb for a woman
Though sometimes the team breaks down. They switch off, become weak or super tense. Imbalances begin.

It's easy to become disconnected from our body.

Thursday class is about getting back in touch with our pelvic space. We explore the deep, natural partnership between your pelvic floor and your core muscles and how it integrates with the rest of the moving body .
We learn to activate, tone and strengthen our body's supportive base without rigid tension or forceful pressure on our pelvic organs.
We practice the art of listening and feeling the body's responses.

This class offers a somatic approach to raising more awareness and connection to the health and vitality of the female pelvis.
Suitable for women of all ages....all very welcome 🙏

Yoga & The Nervous System

I feel one of the greatest gifts of yoga is its ability to support nourish and ground the nervous system.

Through slower, mindful movement, conscious breathing and moments of stillness, we gently invite the body to shift out of survival mode and into a place of rest, repair and restoration.

In a world that constantly asks us to be switched on, yoga offers a space to soften, slow down and reconnect with ourselves. Over time, this practice can help us feel more grounded, present and able to move through life with greater awareness and ease.

Sometimes the most powerful medicine isn't doing more… it's finding the balance of giving the body permission to simply be.

All women welcome to Tuesday morning yoga.

In the prior posts, I chatted about the lymphatics and the fascia, and how the asanas we practice in yoga can be nourishing medicine to these systems especially as we grow older.

The fascia and lymphatic system are in constant relationship with one another.
When our body does not move enough, lymph flow becomes sluggish, excess fluid, waste and inflammation can begin to settle within the tissues, which for some, may leave the fascia feeling thick, sticky, congested, which then restricts that feeling of freedom when in movement. .

These systems appreciate and need movement to be in harmony with each other and to support the other systems of the body, including the energetic system. ie meridians( nadis ), chakras

This is one of the reasons yoga can feel so nourishing .
Gentle movement, stretching, breath, twisting and toning all help support lymph flow while also hydrating and softening the fascia, creating more ease, circulation and spaciousness from the inside out.

It’s never too late to try yoga.
Classes are slow paced and gently guided, encouraging you to build a grounded relationship with your body and mind .

The lymphatics and Yoga.....

Over the many years of working with the body , I never cease being curious, amazed and in total awe over of how all the systems work together… and….. sometimes don’t.

Knowledge is humbling and empowering …..its good to have a little understanding of our bodily and energetic systems so in this post I welcome in the lymphatics and how it relates to mindful movement .

Unlike the heart, which has its own powerful pump, the lymphatic system doesn’t.
Instead …this delicate system moves like a gentle flowing stream relying mostly on breath, movement and muscular contractions to keep it from becoming stagnant.

This is where mindful breath and movement becomes such beautiful medicine for the body.
They acts like a little natural squeeze-and-release for all the body’s tissues

Within the practice of yoga, the different asanas we practice along with a deeper awareness of our breath , all help stimulate lymph movement that supports the body’s natural detoxification system, our body’s fluid balance which then supports good immune health .
Amazing ……yes …and obtainable......

Yoga and fascia 🤔
Fascia seems to be the buzz word of late.
So much to say on this..... though to simplify within the contexts of this post and yoga .....

Fascia is the connective tissue that weaves throughout the entire body surrounding muscles, organs , supporting the whole continuous web of connection from head to toe.
Truly miraculous connective tissue .

On the physical level.....when fascia becomes tight or restricted, we experience stiffness, a feeling of imbalance which creates a reduced ease of movement.

How does yoga help????
The practice of yoga helps soften, hydrate, release and connect you back to this connective tissue, creating greater mobility which eases movement and restores physical comfortable balance .

Our Tuesday morning Hatha Yoga classes offer a supportive space to move with awareness and reconnect with the body.
Suitable for women across all stages of life, with modifications offered for changing bodies, injury recovery and reduced mobility.
All women very welcome đź’š

In the after seasons of menopause when there has been a huge shift in the harmony of our hormonal configuration , the pelvic ground , along with the surrounding tissues that support the bladder and pelvic organs , also feel this shift and may become less responsive and less supportive .

This can be a wonderful time in a woman’s life to reconnect and restore a new relationship with her menopausal pelvis and the feminine energy contained within .

In this class, we explore the pelvic floor in relationship with the breath, deep abdominal muscles, lower back, hips, and glutes.
Lengthening ,Strengthening ,softening

Through awareness, curiosity embodied movement and breath, we reconnect and gently restore the essence of the female pelvis .
