It’s the end of the month, which means it’s a great time to clean your AAC device! 🧼

Let’s face it – devices get dirty. Whether you’re at school, work or just having dinner, your device comes along for the ride. Give it some cleaning attention regularly to keep it working well.

For light cleaning, use a soft, lint-free cloth on the touchscreen. For deeper cleaning, use a slightly damp, lint-free cloth, then dry the screen with another soft cloth. You can find more detailed cleaning tips in your device manual.

👉 Helpful to know: Keyguards can go in the dishwasher!

This week, we’re celebrating the incredible impact of volunteering – and the people who give their time and care to make a difference.

Our SA-based consultant Emily Swanson is one of those wonderful humans! She volunteers with the Bilbies – the Australian Women’s Blind Football team – and recently travelled with them to Japan for a competition ⚽

As Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement Manager, Emily plays a big support role by:

🟣 Championing accessibility and inclusion so everyone can fully take part
🟣 Checking in on athletes – on and off the field
🟣 Helping with behind-the-scenes logistics
🟣 Acting as a sighted guide to help athletes move around safely and confidently
🟣 Creating tactile resources for training (and even cooking for the team, too!)

Women’s blind football isn’t yet included in the Paralympics, which means the team operates without funding – athletes and staff contribute their own time and resources to take part.

We’re proud to support Emily’s work through volunteer leave, helping make this work more sustainable for her. Thank you to Emily and all the volunteers making a difference in their communities! 💚💙💜
