on a red carpet strewn
with the flowers of a perfect life

joy sneaks in
as you pour a cup of coffee
watching the sunlight hit your favourite tree
just right

and you usher joy away
because you are not ready for her
your house is not as it should be
for such a distinguished guest

but joy, you see
cares nothing for your messy home
or your bank-balance
or your waistline

joy is supposed to slither through

Are you struggling with sleep? 💤

Lately, I’ve had a few clients tell me they’re finding it hard to switch off and get a decent night’s sleep.

Sleep isn’t just about getting into bed, it’s about how we prepare both our mind and body beforehand.

Here are a few simple ways to support a better night’s sleep:
🌙 Dim the lights around your home about 2 hours before bed
🌙 Stay off social media at least 1 hour before sleep
🌙 Be mindful of what you watch on TV — limit action movies or the news
🌙 Reduce fluid intake a couple of hours before bed
🌙 Enjoy a warm shower or bath
🌙 Keep your bedroom clutter-free, cool, and comfortable
🌙 Make sure your space is nice and dark
🌙 If you can, keep your phone out of the bedroom

And once you’re in bed, allow yourself to unwind in a way that’s calming - reading, soft music, meditation, breathwork, journalling to “empty” your thoughts, or simply giving your mind time to slow down.

Also, be mindful of your daily habits that may impact your sleep, like when you had your last coffee, whether you moved your body (even a walk), and how much sunlight you were exposed to.

Small changes can make a big difference when it comes to quality sleep.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve noticed many of my clients feeling a heightened sense of anxiety around what’s happening in the world right now. The constant stream of news and social media updates doesn’t help, making it very easy to feel overwhelmed, unsettled, or even powerless.

At times like this, it’s important to gently bring your focus back to yourself - to what you can control, and what helps you feel grounded, safe, and supported.

Here are a few ways to help regulate how you’re feeling:
✨ Limit news and social media intake - give your mind space to breathe
✨ Stick to simple routines that create a sense of stability
✨ Move your body - walking, stretching, yoga, team sports, or any other form of exercise
✨ Spend time in nature, even if it’s just a few quiet moments outside
✨ Connect with people who make you feel calm and supported
✨ Do something creative - writing, drawing, cooking, or anything hands-on
✨ Listen to music that lifts or soothes your mood

Be mindful of what you’re consuming - not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. The more we expose ourselves to fear-based content, the more it can amplify feelings of stress and anxiety.

Instead, choose to come back to what feels steady, calming, and within your control. 💫
