💙 Behind Every Healthy Man… There’s Usually Someone Reminding Him to Book the Appointment! 💙

A quick confession from the team...

Even Dr Dan isn't immune to putting off his own health checks from time to time. And Lauren will be the first to tell you that occasionally she has to give him a friendly nudge (or three!) to get his bum to the doctor. 😄

Which got us thinking...

If a doctor sometimes needs a reminder to look after his own health, it's probably no surprise that many men do too!

This Men's Health Month, we'd like to give a special shout-out to the wives, partners, and loved ones who quietly keep the men in their lives on track.

You know who you are:
💙 The appointment reminder
💙 The medication checker
💙 The "How long has that been bothering you?" investigator
💙 The one who notices when something isn't quite right
💙 The person who somehow manages to get a booking made when "I'll do it later" has been going on for six months

The reality is that many common health conditions — including high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, and heart disease — often develop silently without obvious symptoms.

Many men feel well right up until they don't.

A simple health check can provide reassurance, identify risks early, and help create a plan to stay healthy for the years ahead.

So, to all the wives and partners reading this:

If you've been thinking, "He really should get a check-up..."

Consider this your official permission slip to give him a loving nudge. 😉

And to the men reading along because your partner tagged you...

We're onto you.

📞 Book your Men's Health Check with the team at Atherton Health Hub.

Because looking after your health isn't just for you—it's for the people who want you around for many years to come. 💙

💙 MEN’S HEALTH MATTERS 💙

Blokes are great at looking after everyone else — the kids, the work, the family, the mates — but often their own health gets pushed to the bottom of the list.

This Men’s Health Awareness Month, Atherton Health Hub is proud to be working alongside FNQ Health Alliance pharmacist Josh to help men aged 35–60 take a proactive approach to their health and wellbeing.

Medication reviews aren’t just about “more tablets” — they’re about making sure the medications you’re taking are working for you, safely and effectively.
Together, we can help:

✔️ Reduce medication-related risks
✔️ Optimise treatment plans
✔️ Improve long-term health outcomes
✔️ Support heart health and chronic disease management
✔️ Keep you feeling your best for the people who rely on you

Josh is passionate about supporting men to better understand their health, their medications, and their risks — because small steps now can make a big difference later.

Whether it’s checking your blood pressure, reviewing your medications, or simply having a conversation about your health goals, we’re here to help.

Because good health isn’t just about adding years to life — it’s about adding life to the years. 💪

Men are great at looking after everyone else — but often put their own health at the bottom of the list.

This Men’s Health Month, we’re encouraging blokes to take a moment for themselves and book a health check. Because catching things early can make all the difference.

A simple check-up can help identify:
💙 Blood pressure concerns
💙 Heart disease risk
💙 Diabetes
💙 Cholesterol issues
💙 Prostate health concerns
💙 And more

Life gets busy — work, family, responsibilities — but your health matters too. Looking after yourself means being there for the people who count on you most.

Whether it’s been 12 months or 12 years since your last check-up, this is your sign to book in.

Strong today. Healthy tomorrow.
📞 Contact Atherton Health Hub on 4235 7879 to book your health check with Dr Eugene or one of our friendly GPs.

💙 Men’s Health Awareness | Know Your Numbers 💙
Men are famously “fine”… even when they’re clearly not fine, hungry, tired, in pain, or absolutely refusing to Google anything health-related 😄
That’s where the real heroes come in — partners and wives.
A gentle reminder, a calendar nudge, or a “while you’re at it, book a check-up too” can make all the difference in getting the men in our lives through the clinic door.
At Atherton Health Hub, we’re focusing on Men’s Health – Know Your Numbers, because understanding your blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, and overall risk isn’t just important… it’s lifesaving.
💡 Why it matters:
Many serious health issues start quietly. Regular checks help us catch things early, when they’re most treatable.
👨‍⚕️ Our male GPs are here to make it easy, comfortable, and straightforward — no lectures, no fuss, just genuine care.
💬 So here’s a friendly challenge:
If you’re a partner reading this… consider it your official permission slip to lovingly (and persistently) encourage the men in your life to book that check-up.
You might even try:
👉 “I booked mine… just thought you’d want to keep up.”
👉 “It’s basically a 15-minute coffee break, but with health benefits.”
👉 Or the classic: “Don’t make me book it for you.”
📞 Book your health check today: 4235 7879
Because strong men aren’t just tough — they’re proactive about their health.
💙 Know your numbers. Stay ahead. Stay well.

Heart Health – Know Your Numbers

Your heart doesn’t always send warning signs — that’s why knowing your numbers matters.

Blood pressure. Cholesterol. Blood sugar. These simple checks can give a clear picture of your heart health and help catch risks early.

Heart disease remains one of the leading health concerns for men aged 35–60, but the good news is many risk factors can be managed or improved with early action.

If it’s been a while since your last check, now is the time to book in.

Know your numbers. Protect your heart. Take control of your health.

🌟 Staff Highlight: Supporting Our Carinya Residents 🌟

At Atherton Health Hub, great care is never the work of just one person — it takes a connected team working together behind the scenes to support the health and wellbeing of our community.

We’re proud to shine a light on the wonderful team helping support residents at Carinya through a more proactive and coordinated approach to care.

Meet the team making it happen:

✨ Makayla (Admin Guru) – keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes, coordinating visits and making sure nothing falls through the cracks
✨ Emily (RN) – assessing patient needs and helping identify residents’ health concerns early
✨ Heidi (NP) – leading clinical decision-making and guiding personalised care plans
✨ Josh (Pharmacy) – supporting medication reviews and helping ensure safe, effective treatment

Together, they’ve been working on a project focused on planned, proactive visits — allowing the team to:

✔️ Identify health concerns earlier
✔️ Anticipate care needs before they escalate
✔️ Better coordinate GP and allied health support
✔️ Improve overall wellbeing and comfort for residents

This kind of teamwork helps shift care from reactive to preventative — creating better outcomes not only for residents, but also for families and staff.

We’re incredibly proud of this team and the genuine care, compassion, and collaboration they bring every day 💙

🌿 Small Habits. Big Impact. 🌿

At the heart of great patient care is something simple—the small choices we make every day.

Building a healthier lifestyle doesn’t happen overnight. It’s the little things that add up over time:
💧 Drinking more water
🥗 Choosing nourishing foods
🚶 Staying active
😴 Prioritising good sleep
🧘 Managing stress
💙 Being kind to yourself

These everyday habits can make a powerful difference to your overall health and wellbeing.

✨ Start small. Stay consistent. Feel the difference.

Your health is our priority—together, we’re creating a healthier community.

Behind every smooth, welcoming clinic experience is a team working quietly (and tirelessly!) behind the scenes 💙

At Atherton Health Hub, our incredible support staff are the glue that keeps everything flowing—from the front desk to the back rooms and everywhere in between. It’s their teamwork, communication, and care that help create a space where both patients and clinicians feel supported.

Our regular team meetings are a big part of this. They give everyone a voice—whether it’s sharing ideas, raising concerns, or suggesting improvements. It’s how we grow together, strengthen our systems, and continue building a well-rounded, connected team.

And while the focus is always on collaboration and care… we’ll admit, the occasional nibbles platter (and a very cheeky splash of gin 🍸—strictly off the record!) doesn’t hurt when it comes to bringing people together.

Because a great clinic isn’t just about healthcare—it’s about people supporting people, every step of the way.
