Global Running Day is a complex one for me.
Running has simultaneously given me life and almost taken it away from me. It’s a paradox I live with daily. We often don’t realise what a gift movement is until that blessing is threatened or taken from us.

I’ve learned that running can be a heavy weight—filled with the “wants,” “needs,” and “shoulds” that we place on ourselves. Yet, it also remains the purest source of mindful joy in my life. I see that same joy reflected in the faces of the people I coach—across every age and ability.

Thank you, Running.
For being my constant.
For the highs and the lows, the pleasure and the pain.
And especially for the moment I was told I may never run again—that was the spark that forced me to prove to the world, and to myself, that movement isn't just something I do; it is part of who I am.
Here’s to never letting that flame go out. 🏃🏽‍♀️ ✨

I’m so grateful to still be out here, both for my own journey and for the privilege of sharing that love and knowledge with others.
What does running mean to you? Let’s celebrate the gift of movement today 🌎

RSR May Update: Part 2 – Marathons, Milestones & Next-Gen Mileage! 🌟

Following on from an action-packed start to May, the RSR community has absolutely refused to take its foot off the gas. From interstate road marathons and iconic south-west trails to multi-sport dominance and an absolute takeover of the school cross-country circuits, the efforts have been nothing short of inspiring.

Grab a cuppa—there is a lot of greatness to celebrate!

🍇 Adelaide Marathon: Lifelong Memories
Early May saw Cara and Alyce head to take on the roads of Adelaide, and what an absolute joy it was to watch from afar.
• Cara: Conquered her inaugural marathon with incredible strength
• Alyce: Smashed out yet another shiny new marathon PB!
Ladies, the first one and the fast ones stick with you forever. We know this event will hold incredibly special lifetime memories for you both. Outstanding work!

Margaret River Ultra & Grand Slam
Margs is easily one of my absolute favourite events on the calendar, and while I was incredibly sad to miss the trip Down South this year for the first time in a long time, the 2026 edition did not disappoint. There may not have been sunrise auroras this year, but records were significantly felled!
• Matt Neves: Completed his Grand Slam (4th) and locked in a PB in the 80km solo!
• Claudia Seke: Claimed a spectacular 1st in her Age Category and took a 2nd place overall in the Female Grand Slam!
• Jim Farr: Was captured on camera smiling through the ultra—despite his later recounts of grumbling through the adventure. We see through the grumbles, Jim!
• The Teams: Big congratulations to our team participants, Tom Rad and Andrew, for crushing their legs and bringing home the goods.

🎒 The RSR Juniors: School Cross Country & Pool Domination!
Our junior athletes have been absolutely tearing it up over the last few weeks.

The future of the club is in very fast hands:
• Violet: Won her School Cross Country by a mile, then immediately doubled up in the pool to compete against older kids at the State Swim Carnival. A multi-sport machine! Shantelle Grundy

• Lisa: Showed fantastic improvements, running with a smile and genuinely enjoying her School Cross Country this year. Love to see it, Lisa! Or maybe it was the donuts haha
Robin McGreevy

• Layla: Claimed an incredible 3rd place in her School Cross Country, which is a massive feat considering she openly HATES long distance! Super proud of your grit, Layla. Manty Field

• Jazmyn: Repped her school proudly, running a fantastic race to place well on her school team. Jo Little

• Jaxon: Crowned the Year 3 Champion Boy at his School Cross Country! Word on the street is that this young lad already aspires for the trifecta. Watch this space! Pina Ren

🏃‍♂️ WAMC Joondalup: PBs, Back-to-Backs & Quality Time
Joondalup threw a few logistical curveballs our way, but despite the planning not quite going to script, the runners absolutely delivered in the Half Marathon and 5km:
• Kevin Puffette: Clocked an unofficial PB in the Half Marathon—we don't care if it's unofficial, Kevin, own it!

• Magdeleen: Backed up a fierce netball game with a stellar half-marathon performance. Talk about endurance!

• Julia: Showed up and got it done. Showing up when you aren't feeling 100% your best self is one of the most commendable things an athlete can do. Proud of you, Julia.

• Mikie & Órla: Spent some quality time on the course together, with Mikie completing his very first official 5km event! Welcome to the official clock, Mikie!

🏍️ Out on the Dirt: Kalgoorlie Moto X
Shout out to Danny tracking numbers out east! He has been having fabulous success in his Moto X events, pulling out first-place finishes in his most recent races. Speed runs in the RSR family, clearly!

🤞 Good Luck This Weekend: HBF Run for a Reason!
The big one is here! This weekend, the streets of Perth will be flooded for HBF Run for a Reason. We have RSR community members taking on all the distances. And also those who have chosen to DNS, due to illness and injury.
It is an event close to my heart, after the last few years – and if you still require a Reason to Run, please let it be this: https://runforareason26.grassrootz.com/mnd-association-of-western-australia/tina-ingraham?fbclid=IwY2xjawR-WhpleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFOS3VjR05yZWZvWDNOM055c3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHt7lAixYfNs6NN33USEyd0xMZbR-1E6_pxOJwBl8SjGzDAOmtGBE4rUElNyG_aem_YWdncwBInua8cxDDbk7XsoW9KegO&utm_id=97758_v0_s00_e231_tv2_tp1_a1dennhbfbn87b&brid=YWdncwGDjT2blj9IMonbFC7P800J

I want to wish every single one of you the absolute best of luck out there. Run smart, run strong, and I cannot wait to hear everyone’s race recaps on Monday!
And also, to our Junior Athletes who took on the first Athletics West Winter Cross-Country series this morning, at Manning Park.

20/05/2026

A recent 9 News report highlighted a worrying trend: more kids than ever are falling behind on basic balance, coordination, and fundamental motor skills. 📉🧠

Movement isn't just a natural habit—it’s a skill that needs to be taught and practiced. When kids miss out on these physical basics, they lose the confidence to join in on the playground or the sports field.

At RSR Coaching, we specialise in building these foundations from the ground up.
Through structured, fun athletics and running sessions, we help young athletes develop:
- Strong balance and coordination 🏃‍♂️
- Efficient running mechanics ⚡
- The confidence to stay active for life ✨

Let’s get our kids moving and thriving again.

RSR Coaching Club Update: April Highlights 🏃‍♀️
Apologies for the radio silence, legends!
Coach Sarah has been navigating a few personal ultramarathons of her own lately, but it is time to look back and celebrate the incredible efforts of the RSR community over the last couple of months.

We’ve seen grit, determination, podiums, and some serious miles clocked up. Here is how the team rolled:
Delirious West 100 & 200 Miler
The legendary Delirious West threw everything at the runners this year. While I was on the sidelines, dot-watching with immense pride, RSR crew and friends were out there making history.
- Big Kev: Absolute powerhouse performance to take out 2nd place overall in the gruelling 200-miler!
- The Finishers: Massive congratulations to Doug, Tristan, Michael & Emmalene Head, and Bradley Halls (who had a stellar support crew in our own Tom Rad and supported by Aaron Young), plus Veronika!
- Chemie Banger: Took out the coveted DFL spot, and honestly, I couldn’t be prouder. Talk about absolute relentless forward progress and undoing the previous DNFs of the men of Mandalay. True inspiration!

The DNS Crew: A special shout-out to Sam, Debby, Julia, and Louise. Getting to the start line healthy is a victory in itself, and sometimes these decisions need to be made with the best intentions of future goals in mind.
So proud of you

🌉 WAMC Bridges Fun Run & Kids Run
From the ultra-trails to the fast flat pavement, the squad brought the heat to the Swan River for the Bridges Fun Run!
- The Juniors: A massive shout-out to Jason Ryder, and Jett, who absolutely crushed the kids' run!
- Craig (Friend of RSR): almost cracking that elusive sub-40-minute mark. It's coming, Craig!
- Kevin Puffette: Clocked a seriously tidy new 10km PB.
- Coach Tina Ingraham: Showed us all how it's done with a masterclass in steady, textbook pacing duty.
- Magdeleen & Órla: Both absolutely smashed it to record brand new 10km PBs!
Run Club Regulars: A massive well done to all our familiar faces who laced up and represented.

✨ Extra Junior Shout-out: Speaking of speed, a big congratulations to Jett, who nabbed a shiny new Aveley Parkrun PB a few weeks back. Love your work, Jett!

🏆 2026 Australian Athletics Junior Championships
I watched with absolute awe at the level of talent on display at the Junior Championships this year. We had some incredible local stars and past RSR-coached athletes out there representing at the highest level.
It sparked some fantastic discussions with my coaching mentor about the sheer depth of upcoming talent we have coming out of Western Australia right now. The future of track and trail is incredibly bright!

Lake Rumble & OMFG Trail Run
- Lake Rumble: Huge congratulations to everyone who went out and conquered the laps at Lake Rumble! Outstanding grit on display, across all distances, from Marathon to 5km.
- OMFG Trail Run: A massive well done to Julia for a stellar performance out on the trails!

👋 Welcome to the Crew! On that note, a hearty RSR welcome to Julia, David, and the other fresh faces who have jumped on board via our brand-new Social Community Membership. We are so stoked to have you in the mix!

🏊‍♂️ A Massive May Weekend: Swan River Half & Busselton Tri
Early May turned out to be an absolute blockbuster weekend for the community across multiple disciplines!

Swan River Half Marathon (by Soul Runners):
Magdeleen backing up her Bridges form with another fantastic PB over the half-marathon distance! High fives also to Orla and all our community members who smashed the pavement along the river.

Busselton Festival of Tri:
RSR was represented down south! Congratulations to everyone who took on the multisport events—we saw some fantastic results and plenty of distance PBs to boot.

Whether you hit the podium, snagged a PB, conquered the mental demons of an ultra, or supported from the sidelines—you are what makes this community so special.
The remainder of May is To Be Continued...
