RSR May Update: Part 2 – Marathons, Milestones & Next-Gen Mileage! 🌟
Following on from an action-packed start to May, the RSR community has absolutely refused to take its foot off the gas. From interstate road marathons and iconic south-west trails to multi-sport dominance and an absolute takeover of the school cross-country circuits, the efforts have been nothing short of inspiring.
Grab a cuppa—there is a lot of greatness to celebrate!
🍇 Adelaide Marathon: Lifelong Memories
Early May saw Cara and Alyce head to take on the roads of Adelaide, and what an absolute joy it was to watch from afar.
• Cara: Conquered her inaugural marathon with incredible strength
• Alyce: Smashed out yet another shiny new marathon PB!
Ladies, the first one and the fast ones stick with you forever. We know this event will hold incredibly special lifetime memories for you both. Outstanding work!
Margaret River Ultra & Grand Slam
Margs is easily one of my absolute favourite events on the calendar, and while I was incredibly sad to miss the trip Down South this year for the first time in a long time, the 2026 edition did not disappoint. There may not have been sunrise auroras this year, but records were significantly felled!
• Matt Neves: Completed his Grand Slam (4th) and locked in a PB in the 80km solo!
• Claudia Seke: Claimed a spectacular 1st in her Age Category and took a 2nd place overall in the Female Grand Slam!
• Jim Farr: Was captured on camera smiling through the ultra—despite his later recounts of grumbling through the adventure. We see through the grumbles, Jim!
• The Teams: Big congratulations to our team participants, Tom Rad and Andrew, for crushing their legs and bringing home the goods.
🎒 The RSR Juniors: School Cross Country & Pool Domination!
Our junior athletes have been absolutely tearing it up over the last few weeks.
The future of the club is in very fast hands:
• Violet: Won her School Cross Country by a mile, then immediately doubled up in the pool to compete against older kids at the State Swim Carnival. A multi-sport machine! Shantelle Grundy
• Lisa: Showed fantastic improvements, running with a smile and genuinely enjoying her School Cross Country this year. Love to see it, Lisa! Or maybe it was the donuts haha
Robin McGreevy
• Layla: Claimed an incredible 3rd place in her School Cross Country, which is a massive feat considering she openly HATES long distance! Super proud of your grit, Layla. Manty Field
• Jazmyn: Repped her school proudly, running a fantastic race to place well on her school team. Jo Little
• Jaxon: Crowned the Year 3 Champion Boy at his School Cross Country! Word on the street is that this young lad already aspires for the trifecta. Watch this space! Pina Ren
🏃♂️ WAMC Joondalup: PBs, Back-to-Backs & Quality Time
Joondalup threw a few logistical curveballs our way, but despite the planning not quite going to script, the runners absolutely delivered in the Half Marathon and 5km:
• Kevin Puffette: Clocked an unofficial PB in the Half Marathon—we don't care if it's unofficial, Kevin, own it!
• Magdeleen: Backed up a fierce netball game with a stellar half-marathon performance. Talk about endurance!
• Julia: Showed up and got it done. Showing up when you aren't feeling 100% your best self is one of the most commendable things an athlete can do. Proud of you, Julia.
• Mikie & Órla: Spent some quality time on the course together, with Mikie completing his very first official 5km event! Welcome to the official clock, Mikie!
🏍️ Out on the Dirt: Kalgoorlie Moto X
Shout out to Danny tracking numbers out east! He has been having fabulous success in his Moto X events, pulling out first-place finishes in his most recent races. Speed runs in the RSR family, clearly!

The big one is here! This weekend, the streets of Perth will be flooded for HBF Run for a Reason. We have RSR community members taking on all the distances. And also those who have chosen to DNS, due to illness and injury.
It is an event close to my heart, after the last few years – and if you still require a Reason to Run, please let it be this: https://runforareason26.grassrootz.com/mnd-association-of-western-australia/tina-ingraham?fbclid=IwY2xjawR-WhpleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFOS3VjR05yZWZvWDNOM055c3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHt7lAixYfNs6NN33USEyd0xMZbR-1E6_pxOJwBl8SjGzDAOmtGBE4rUElNyG_aem_YWdncwBInua8cxDDbk7XsoW9KegO&utm_id=97758_v0_s00_e231_tv2_tp1_a1dennhbfbn87b&brid=YWdncwGDjT2blj9IMonbFC7P800J
