I am a qualified Naturopath and Astrologer with 30 years of experience working with clients from around the world for their various health and spiritual concerns. I use a traditional, classical Astrological technique called Electional Astrology for life event timing and a system called Horary Astrology for pressing questions such as 'should I marry this guy', or 'will I get a good price for my hou

se?', amongst other things. I also use a classical system of Astrology for medical matters which can explain the origin, treatment and outcome of an illness or dis-ease. I use predictive techniques for people who want to know what lies ahead, and modern Astrology for natal chart readings and predictive work. I am also available for a more traditional approach to using herbs for everyday woes and illnesses in general, which I will sometimes base on the natal horoscope. This fabulous root that I have just dug up during the hour of Mercury from its ever crowded pot is Elecampane root (Inula helenium), also known as Elf Dock and Horse Heal 🐲.

I have divided the root and planted some in the ground, so that in another 4 or so years, I'll have more root to harvest! 🌼

According to Greek mythology, the plant sprung up where the tears fell from Helen of Troy. It's ruled by the planet Mercury, and so, has an affinity for the respiratory system, helping issues like asthma, bronchitis, and flu by loosening excess phlegm. It's also effective in digestive issues, especially if there's parasite problems 🪱.

The root is now chopped up and being turned into an alcoholic tincture to use during winter, when coughs and the flu are all around us, especially for those nervous Mercury types - Gemini and Virgo!

Her parts are useful for oh so many things, but mostly as an anti-inflammatory, astringent, anti bacterial and diuretic (Venus rules the kidneys). She contains salicin, which helps with pain and prevents blood clotting.

This time of year, Spring in the southern hemisphere, is the perfect time for releasing excess fluids that have accumulated over winter, and Birch is the perfect tree to help you with that!
