Dad walking. Today he has gone past the corner. Even though he doesn't necessarily feel like going getting him out into the sunshine and moving is so important for him to continue to go to the toilet unaided, clean his teeth and continue to be as independent as possible as a man who is almost 101yrs old.

I've been experimenting with wraps. This is a lentil wrap with cos and cucumber salad.
Soak 1 cup of lentils in hot water for about 3 hrs. Drain and blend with cup water and clove of garlic if desired. Blend. I made 3 wraps.

💙🏊 SAFETY WEEK HAS STARTED for swimming lessons students, 21 – 27 July 2025

👚 All swimming students are asked to bring old clothes or pyjamas to wear over their bathers during their lesson.
👖 PLUS, pop in your calendar to wear something BLUE on 25 July to raise awareness of World Drowning Prevention Day!

During Safety Week, students will learn essential skills for staying safe in and around water, including: floating, treading water, safe entries and exits, basic rescue techniques, survival strokes, swimming in clothes (clothed swims)... and more!

What to wear for each class type:
🐡 Tadpole & Goldfish: Wear lightweight t-shirt & shorts
🐙 Octopus, Sardine & Turtle: Wear t-shirt & shorts
🐠 Salmon & Tuna: Wear long-sleeve top & pants
🐬 Dolphin & Shark: Wear long-sleeve jumper & heavier pants (eg trackpants)

This is because as we get older our muscle strength and balance may reduce resulting in a fall accident.

Older adults can do a number of things to help improve muscle strength.
Land based exercises using weights
Water aerobics or Aqua fitness
