Getting back to work. Taking the dog out. Cooking dinner. Feeling connected. Feeling more comfortable moving around home.

Everyone’s priorities after limb loss are different. Good support starts with listening to what matters to that person, then working towards it together.

This Amputee Awareness week, we’re recognising the everyday goals that shape rehabilitation.

What’s an everyday goal you wish people understood better?

Come and join us at STRIDE SA Walking Group.

After running successfully for over a year in Perth, Stride- Social Walking Group for Amputees is coming to South Australia under STRIDE SA.

STRIDE SA Walking Group aims to bring people together living with Limb Loss or Limb Difference who want to improve their walking in a community orientated environment. Expect an inclusive and encouraging vibe, where you can walk at your own pace, and have access to a Physiotherapist who can provide feedback whilst you move. When we finish coffee and chats are strongly encouraged!

If this sounds like the right group for you, please comment below. Someone from our team will be in touch shortly!

Integrated Support Solutions is now in South Australia! 💙

We’ve started providing physiotherapy services in SA, alongside our established services in WA.

You might have noticed a new name here, too. This account is now Integrated Support Solutions | Disability Provider one place to share updates from Integrated WA and Integrated SA, while keeping information about each state’s services clear.

We’re excited to introduce you to our SA team and share more of what they’re doing.

Trae, who works with our OT Kyra, is raising funds for Lifeline as part of Out of the Shadows 2026.

What started as a planned 6km walk turned into 10km, wearing a 10kg weighted vest. Kyra and Jason joined Trae this morning to show their support and cheer him on along the way.

We’re proud to get behind Trae and the cause he’s supporting. 💙

Want to support Trae? You can donate to his fundraiser

When you only got photos… you make it work 😂

But the story behind these photos is actually pretty incredible.

Ever wondered how someone actually controls a myoelectric prosthetic hand?

One of our participants has been learning to use a myoelectric prosthetic hand following a transradial (mid-forearm) amputation and the technology behind it is pretty incredible.

When she thinks about opening or closing her hand, the muscles in her forearm contract and create tiny electrical signals.

Sensors inside the prosthetic detect those signals and use them to control the hand. For example, when one set of muscles contracts, the hand opens. When another contracts, it closes around an object.

But learning to use it goes even further than open and close.

With support from our Occupational Therapy team, she’s been learning proportional control adjusting how strongly she activates her muscles to control the speed and strength of the prosthetic hand. A stronger muscle signal creates a faster or stronger movement, while a smaller signal allows for more delicate control.

She’s now progressed to trialling multi-articulating prosthetic hands, where individual fingers can move independently to create different grip patterns from a pinch grip using the thumb and index finger to grips designed for holding objects of different shapes and sizes.

And then comes the most important part: turning all of that practice into everyday life.

Holding keys and cards. Preparing meals. Baking. Dressing. Washing and painting. Carrying shopping. Stabilising objects with one hand while working with the other.

The next step is finding the prosthetic that best suits her needs and continuing therapy so switching between grips and movements becomes more intuitive in everyday situations.

Pretty incredible what technology + therapy can do.

How would you describe your job to friends and family at a bbq?

20/08/2026

Rolling, pinching and manipulating theraputty isn’t just an exercise it’s building the hand strength, coordination and dexterity needed for everyday tasks.

⌨️ Typing at work
🥫 Opening containers and packaging
👕 Doing up buttons and zips
✍🏼 Writing
🍴 Using cutlery
🔑 Turning keys
🛍️ Carrying and managing everyday items

Because the goal isn’t simply getting better at an exercise in a therapy session. It’s making everyday tasks feel easier, building independence and supporting people to do more of what matters to them.

Therapy → function → real life. 💙
