Port Fairy's annual Fairy Party was full of fun, laughter and community spirit! ✨

Some of our Supported Independent Living residents had an absolute blast at this year's event.

Everyone dressed up in their favourite fairy accessories and enjoyed an evening of bubbles, music, fairy floss, fairy bread, arts and crafts, and a miniature fairy house hunt.

The evening finished with fish and chips by the beach, where everyone enjoyed the beautiful views.

There were plenty of smiles and laughter throughout the night, and everyone is already looking forward to the next Fairy Party.

Cyber security information only works if people can understand it.

That's why Scope's Communication and Inclusion Resource Centre (CIRC) worked with people with disability, cyber security experts and government partners to develop free Easy Read resources on cyber security.

Using plain language and images, the resources help people understand topics such as scams, strong passwords and protecting personal information, so they can take practical steps to protect themselves online.

William, consumer tester with lived experience of disability, helped review the resources and provided feedback on how to make the information easier to understand.

"I feel more knowledgeable about cyber security and more diligent about what to look out for,” he said.

To Bronwyn, it's helping transform a gardening project into a flourishing community space through dedication, teamwork and a love of connecting with others.

To Oscar, it's using his communication device to independently order dumplings during a community outing, building confidence one conversation at a time.

To Christos, it's the growing confidence to take on responsibilities around the centre and support his peers.

Together, their stories show how Social Connection can strengthen independence, build confidence and create meaningful opportunities to participate in community life.

Congratulations to Emmanuel, winner of our We Celebrate People Award at the Belong & Thrive Awards!

Emmanuel brings energy, care and professionalism to everything he does. When he hosted our People Function Town Hall, he created a welcoming and engaging environment that helped everyone stay connected and involved.

Every day, people in our Social Connections programs are building skills, confidence and meaningful connections.

A big shout-out to Justin, Mark and Damian for the incredible progress they’re making.

Justin has gained confidence using public transport through travel training and can now independently manage his Opal card.

Mark, a volunteer with the Sydney Heritage Fleet for more than 35 years, recently shared his passion and knowledge by leading a tour for his peers during a Big Day Out.

Damian has embraced new opportunities since joining Social Connections Kingsgrove in April. Through swimming, community activities and travel training, he’s building confidence, independence and new friendships.

We’re proud to support people to explore their interests, achieve their goals and create opportunities to belong and thrive.
