Today Josh got the chance to visit the Royal South Street Society (RSSS) at their All Abilities performing arts event at the amazing Ballarat Specialist School and wow, what an atmosphere!

RSSS took out the win in the Calacare Accessibility & Inclusion Award at the 2026 Federation University Australia Commerce Ballarat Business Excellence Awards and after seeing today’s event… it’s easy to see why!

The energy in the room was unreal, with people of all abilities dancing, singing, reading and giving it their absolute best. The smiles were genuinely ear‑to‑ear!

Huge congratulations to RSSS and everyone involved. You’re creating spaces where everyone feels welcome, included and celebrated, a perfect example of what this award is all about.

So proud to see our community showing what true inclusion looks like. 💙👏🫶

A lovely surprise in the office today 🧁

A big thank you to Carmel from The Proven Group, who dropped in to congratulate us on our recent win in the 2026 Federation University Australia Commerce Ballarat Business Excellence Awards.

Carmel surprised us with a beautiful tray of cupcakes from The Little Cupcake - Ballarat.

It was such a thoughtful gesture and one we really appreciated.

Running a local business is about much more than what happens within your own four walls.

The relationships you build with other local businesses, organisations and people in the community are incredibly important. Having people who support you, celebrate your wins and genuinely want to see you succeed means a lot.

We’re very grateful to have built some great relationships along the way and Carmel’s visit was a nice reminder of that.

Thanks again Carmel and The Proven Group. The cupcakes certainly didn’t last long! 🧁❤️

What a day for Greig! 🏉☕️

Our amazing participant Greig was lucky enough to enjoy a coffee catch-up with none other than Gary Ablett Snr himself!

Being a huge Geelong fan, it’s fair to say Greig was a little starstruck at first (we all were), but he soon settled in and had a fantastic chat with Gary. He was an absolute pleasure to meet, very genuine, down to earth and incredibly generous with his time.

Support workers Ash and Steve were pretty chuffed too… it’s not every day you get to meet arguably the greatest AFL player to ever walk the earth!

A massive thank you to Entertainment By Vin for organising such a memorable experience for Greig. These are the moments we love being a part of at Calacare. 💙

As the sponsor of this award, we’re incredibly proud to recognise an organisation that is making accessibility and inclusion an important part of the way they operate. Their commitment to creating opportunities and ensuring people of all abilities and backgrounds can participate, belong and feel included is something truly worth celebrating.

Greig has been a part of the Calacare community for around a year and a half now and it is safe to say that there’s a lot more to him than Huntington’s disease.

We want to share more of his story - the life he’s lived, the people who love him and 'The Man Behind the Uniform' 👮‍♂️

By sharing Greig’s story, we hope to get more people talking about Huntington’s and bring awareness to a disease that still isn’t spoken about nearly enough.

For now, enjoy this little sneak peek into the project that Calacare, Greig and his network have been putting together.
