An early start yesterday for the owners of AssistU, Abigail and Sally, who attended WorkSafe Victoria’s Ballarat Health & Safety Month event! ☕️💙

It was a great morning learning more about workplace health and safety, supporting recovery and Return to Work, and WorkSafe’s approach to the Healthcare and Social Assistance sector.

We may be 3.5 years into our AssistU journey, but you never stop learning and growing. For us, providing a safe and supportive workplace for our team is incredibly important, and we want to make sure we’re always doing the best we can for the people who work with us.

There is always something new to learn, something we can improve on, and opportunities to continue strengthening the way we do things as AssistU grows.

We also enjoyed connecting with other local businesses and professionals and hearing about the work happening across our community.

The home is shared by young women and may suit a younger female NDIS participant looking for stable, longer-term accommodation in a friendly and respectful environment.

💛 Today is R U OK? Day 💛

Today is a good reminder to check in with the people around us and ask a simple but important question - “Are you OK?”

At the AssistU office today, we took some time to check in with each other, have a chat and share some very yummy cupcakes thanks to The Little Cupcake 🧁💛

Sometimes people are carrying more than we can see, and you don’t need to have all the answers. Simply asking the question, genuinely listening and checking in again can mean more than you realise.

So today, check in with your people. Have a coffee, send the message, make the phone call or sit down for a chat. 💛

AssistU is opening a small intake for Disability Support Workers, and we’re looking for some genuinely great people to join our team across Community Access, In-Home Supports and SIL Supports.

At AssistU, we support a diverse range of Participants, including children and young people, so we’re looking for workers with different backgrounds, strengths and experience.

We’re not looking to build the biggest team- we want the right people.

We want Support Workers who show up, work hard and genuinely care about seeing Participants achieve their goals, build independence and get the most out of their supports.

And in return? We believe great Support Workers deserve to work for a company that values and supports them.

💜 We match you with Participants based on personality, interests, experience and support needs.

💜 We prioritize consistency, aiming to keep you with the same Participants and regular shifts wherever possible.

💜 We don't send you into shifts blind. You'll be given the information you need so you feel prepared before commencing support.

💜 We're serious about trauma-informed care. Our Directors have worked as Support Workers themselves and provide our team with in-house trauma-informed training.

💜 You're supported. We provide in-house supervision and have a dedicated Intake & Allocations Coordinator you can reach out to.

Ideally, you'll be studying or have completed a relevant qualification in disability, community services, youth work, mental health, nursing or a related field.

This morning, AssistU Directors Abigail and Sally attended the Grampians Health Ballarat morning tea to celebrate the 2026 Cancer Wellness Raffle, which AssistU is very proud to be sponsoring one of the prizes this year.

It was a great opportunity to hear about some of the exciting things happening across Grampians Health, what community donations help make possible, and what’s planned for the future of Ballarat.

As a local Ballarat business, it was wonderful to hear firsthand about the impact community support can have and to learn more about where these donations go. 💛

We're looking for a Support Coordinator who is passionate about empowering people to live safer, more independent, and fulfilling lives through person-centred and trauma-informed practice.

📋 Essential Requirements:
• Experience in Support Coordination or case management within disability services, Out-of-Home Care, child protection, or a similar field

• Relevant screening checks (or willingness to obtain)
