💜 Today is Ageism Awareness Day! 💜

Age is just one part of who we are. It doesn't define our abilities, our potential or the value we bring to our communities.

Ageism Awareness Day is a reminder that everyone, regardless of age, deserves to be treated with dignity, respect and equality.

At The Support People, we believe in:

💛 Words like these mean so much to us. 💛

One of our wonderful clients, Annie, recently wrote this poem about The Support People and the team who support her. Annie’s words capture what person-centred support is all about.

She finished her poem with a heartfelt thank you to her support team, saying they treat her like family. 🥰

🐾 A great day out at The Great Chase! 🎈

The Support People recently headed to the Great Chase in Bendigo, run by Greyhound Racing Victoria - GRV, for a fun day of greyhound racing, socialising and plenty of laughs.

Our participants got into the spirit of the day, cheering on the greyhounds, enjoying the racing and having a little flutter on their favourites. There were also balloons, balloon animals and lots of smiles along the way! 🎈🐕

The Great Chase is a Greyhound Racing Victoria community program that brings together disability groups from across Victoria for an inclusive day at the races.

Days like these are about more than just getting out and about. They're an opportunity to try something different, spend time with friends and feel connected to the local community. 💛

Thanks to everyone involved in making it such an enjoyable day!

💛 A wonderful new chapter for Louise and Jason

Louise and her partner Jason recently moved into Kallara Care, with Rebecca and Mollie from our Support Coordination team helping to organise their move.

It’s wonderful to hear that Louise and Jason are happy and settling into their new home. 🏡💛

To make the occasion even more special, Mollie accompanied Louise to Lush Culture in Bendigo, where she enjoyed a complimentary haircut and wash.

Louise felt like a million dollars after her pamper session! ✨

🏉 A great day out at the footy!

Last weekend, Dylan and Kaidy headed to GMHBA Stadium for the Geelong vs Richmond game.

Dylan, an avid Richmond Tigers supporter, was there to cheer on his team, while Kaidy, a proud Collingwood supporter, bravely ventured into enemy territory wearing her Collingwood gear! 😄

It looks like there were plenty of smiles and team spirit on the day.

On Thursday, 13 August, The Support People had the pleasure of attending the awards and sponsoring the Customer Focused Award.

🎨 Meet Keisha, one of our participants from Horsham and a talented local artist. 💛

Keisha has always had an interest in art and rediscovered her love of painting as a young adult. Starting with paint-by-numbers, she soon began creating her own designs and has since exhibited her work at the Horsham and Natimuk agricultural shows.

Today, Keisha enjoys creating a variety of pieces, with a particular love for oil painting and black-and-white designs. 🎨

Keisha is currently selling a selection of her paintings to help raise funds for an upcoming trip to Sydney for surgery.

We’re proud to share Keisha’s story with our community and help spread the word about her artwork and fundraising efforts. 💛
