🔨🌿 Woodwork, Skills & Plenty of Smiles at RIISE! 🌿🔨

Our participants had an absolute blast during our woodwork class at RIISE Day Program! 🪵✨

With safety first at every step, our participants got hands-on, learning new techniques, using tools safely and discovering just how much they can achieve when given the opportunity to learn and have a go. 👏

It wasn’t just about making something with wood — it was about capacity building! 💪

Our woodwork session helped build:
🛠️ Practical skills and independence
🧠 Problem-solving and concentration
💪 Confidence and self-belief
🤝 Communication and teamwork
🌱 New skills that can be carried into everyday life

There were plenty of laughs, a few challenges to work through, and lots of “I did it!” moments. ❤️

Every participant loved the lesson and walked away having learnt something new. Watching their confidence grow as they tried new things, supported each other and took pride in their work was exactly what capacity building at RIISE is all about.

Today our support workers joined our participants for a gym and training session, working side by side, encouraging each other and celebrating progress.

Exercise is about more than physical fitness. For people living with disability, opportunities to train, move, and participate in physical activity can support confidence, independence, emotional wellbeing, and a sense of achievement.

🌿🌱🦆 Now this is what we call a perfect kind of day!

Our participants enjoyed getting out into nature, slowing down and enjoying the simple things! Brewing a cup of tea, cooking damper over the fire and taking in the peaceful surroundings. 🔥☕️🌳

Days like this are about so much more than having fun. They create opportunities to build confidence, develop practical life skills, learn about camping and nature, practise independence and make meaningful connections.

Spending time outdoors can also provide a chance to step away from the everyday hustle, enjoy a change of scenery and give the mind some much-needed space to relax and recharge. 🌿

At RIISE, we believe support should be person-centred, meaningful and focused on building capacity — creating opportunities for participants to learn, grow, try new things and enjoy life along the way. ☀️
