Meet our newest team member Matilda!

What led you to pursue a career in psychology?
I grew up in a family of helpers, and as such, naturally became someone people would turn to for support. I have always appreciated psychology; I love the science of it. Most of all, I love that we use science not for profit or prestige, but for something more important: helping those who need it.

What do you enjoy most about supporting people through your work?
It is an absolute privilege to hear people’s life experiences and walk alongside them in their recovery journey.

What can someone expect during their first session with you?
Whatever is coming up for you, I am ready to lend a compassionate ear.

What would you say to someone who’s feeling unsure about reaching out to see a psychologist?
Feeling unsure about starting therapy is the most normal thing in the world. Sometimes there is no right time, and you just need to take that leap of faith. We can go at your pace.

What’s one common misconception about psychology that you’d love to clear up?
Popular culture plays on the notion that humans use only 10 per cent of their brains. We use 100% of our brains every day.

What are some of your favourite hobbies or interests outside the clinic?
Anything creative, dancing, crafting, sewing, building.

Can you share a fun or unexpected fact about yourself?
I can harmonise with my microwave. Whilst this is true, I also think I have a decent sense of humour.

If you had a completely free day, what would your ideal day look like?
Cuddles with my cats Puddles and Poppy, a long walk through nature and big cheesy pizza for dinner.

Before clients meet you, what's one thing you'd like them to know about you?
I am ready to meet you right where you are in life.

What are the benefits of a Mental Health Care Plan?

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, stuck or not quite yourself, a Mental Health Care Plan can make accessing psychological support easier and more affordable.
A Mental Health Care Plan is created with your GP and, if you’re eligible, gives you access to Medicare-rebated psychology sessions.
How does it work?
You may be eligible for up to 10 rebated psychology sessions per calendar year:
Your GP will initially refer you for 6 sessions
You’ll then return to your GP for a review
If appropriate, you can be referred for a further 4 sessions
Medicare provides a rebate, but a gap fee may still apply
Your Medicare session allowance resets on 1 January each year, although GP reviews and referrals are still required.
Why consider a Mental Health Care Plan?
It can make psychology more affordable, provide ongoing support and help you develop strategies to manage challenges before things become overwhelming.
We’re here to help
Not sure where to start? Our friendly admin and reception team are always happy to help with questions about referrals, gap fees or the process.
You can also speak with your GP about whether a Mental Health Care Plan may be right for you.

⚠️ Safety Alert: National Phone Alert Test Today ⚠️

Today, a nationwide test of Australia’s new AusAlert emergency warning system will be sent to compatible mobile phones.

While this is only a test, it’s important to know that the alert may sound even if a phone is on silent or “Do Not Disturb.”

💜 If you or someone you know keeps a hidden or emergency phone for personal safety, this alert could unintentionally draw attention to the device.

If it is safe to do so, consider:
📱 Turning the phone off before the test.
✈️ Placing it in aeroplane mode until after the test has finished.

Please consider sharing this information. A simple heads-up today could help keep someone safe.

If you’re experiencing family or domestic violence and need support, help is available through 1800RESPECT (1800 737 732) or by calling 000 if you are in immediate danger.
