It's Pride Month, and in our sector we think it matters a bit more than people realise. Because for a lot of LGBTQIA+ people with disability, the question isn't just "will I be supported" ... it's "can I be myself while I'm supported."

That's a heavier question than it sounds.

Support Coordination works when someone feels safe enough to tell you who they actually are. Their relationships, their identity, the things that make them them. Not just a plan, not just supports in place, but a person who feels genuinely seen by the people around them.

At Auscare Support, inclusion isn't something we put in a values statement, it's how we do every day.

Happy Pride! This month and every month 🌈

This World MS Day, we stand with everyone living with multiple sclerosis, as well as the families, carers, and communities who support them.

This year's My MS Diagnosis campaign highlights the importance of early and accurate diagnosis for everyone affected by MS. At Auscare Support, we proudly support that message and advocate for continued improvements in MS awareness, healthcare professional training, research, and advancements in diagnosis.

Just as importantly, we recognise the need for strong support systems that help people navigate life after diagnosis and access the care they need.

So to anyone living with MS reading this...there are people who care, people who understand, and people ready to walk beside you. We are one of them. 💛

This National Reconciliation Week, we join Australians across the country in reflecting on our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and the role we all play in reconciliation.

This year’s theme, “All In”, reminds us that reconciliation is not passive, it requires all of us to listen, learn, reflect and take meaningful action every day.

At Auscare Support, we are committed to creating culturally safe, respectful and inclusive spaces for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within our workplace and the communities we support.

Reconciliation matters because everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, respected and connected.

We acknowledge the strength, resilience and enduring cultures of First Nations peoples and recognise that reconciliation is an ongoing journey for all Australians. ❤️🖤💛

The Passion in Action event lived up to its name. The vibe, the energy, the realness of it all. Not about being perfect, but about being real and telling the story as it is.

We caught up with Nerina on the day to hear what stood out for her, and she summed it up perfectly. The room was full of genuine passion and heartfelt support. That is what makes events like this so special.

A huge round of applause to the organisers and the whole committee for making it happen. Good people putting their hand up and stepping in.

We are so proud to be part of a community like this.

May Patch Update

Before winter sweeps in, the mornings have shifted, tiny spiderlings are adventuring across the patch, and the fog leaves just enough sparkle on their webs to make the whole garden look like it’s been dusted with fairy lights.

Winter sent its calling card early this year: a heavy frost, minus two, crisp enough to take out the pumpkin vines, the chillies, and the last of the summer showoffs. The sweet potatoes were rescued just in time and tucked away in storage, although they won’t survive long with hungry humans about. The last of the tomato harvest was not wasted but transformed into very tasty relish!

Still, the patch is far from sleepy. The garlic is shooting up proudly, bracing itself for winter’s chill, which will only deepen its flavour. The asparagus has slipped into its winter slumber, quietly gathering strength for a spring comeback. Leafy greens are thriving, and the broccoli patch is gearing up for its moment in the spotlight.

Over in the feathered department, the annual moulting drama is nearly over. New feathers are coming in just in time for winter, the young hens have begun laying, and even the geese have decided to be slightly less opinionated, baby ducks not babies anymore.

As for the goat babies, kids no longer, they’re nearly one year old. Whether they’ll get a birthday party is still up for debate, but they’re certainly ready for a paddock of their own.

Support Coordinator Spotlight 🌟
The team just got bigger on the Gold Coast !!

Massimo joins us with over five years of Support Coordination experience, and three years of direct support work before that. As he puts it, he's sat on both sides of the plan, and understands what good support looks like on the ground.

He's spent the last five years working with participants navigating psychosocial disability, difficult housing situations, complicated family dynamics, and plans that don't reflect what someone actually needs. He's comfortable working through whatever comes up, whether that's pushing for the right supports at a review, or just being straight with a participant about what's realistic and what's not.

Massimo is a Gold Coast local and has capacity to support participants across the Gold Coast, Northern NSW, Brisbane and surrounding areas.

IDAHOBIT 2026. A reflection on what inclusion actually looks like, beyond the policies and the posts. Working in the disability sector means people trust us with the most personal parts of their lives. That trust comes with a responsibility to make sure every person feels seen, valued, and supported.

Did you know many of the team at Auscare Support volunteer their time to support others in our community? 💛

And honestly, we could not be more proud of the incredible humans who make up our team.

From School P&C committees, coaching local sports teams, helping at hot meal centres, supporting residents associations, participating in land care, supporting senior citizens with technology, our team continues to show up for others with kindness, compassion and generosity, often quietly and without recognition.

This National Volunteer Week, we especially want to shine a light on one of our incredible Support Coordinators, Lynne, who gives so much back to her community through her volunteer work with the Red Cross, supporting disaster management and emergency preparedness, while also raising future guide dogs. The care, commitment and heart behind this work is truly inspiring, and we are so incredibly proud to have Lynne as part of the Auscare family. 🌟

There is something very special about people who give their time, energy and hearts to helping others, simply because they care.

To every member of our team who volunteers in their communities; thank you. You make the world a little kinder, safer and more connected, and we appreciate you more than words can say. 💛
