For me, it makes complete sense that artists need this kind of space — solitude, stillness and some freedom from the noise of the outside world.

Perhaps we are accustomed to imagining that creative work requires such space because it can sometimes result in something tangible — a painting, a sculpture, a piece of writing. And yet, of course, artists have not always had this need recognised or supported, particularly women, and the value of that time cannot be measured only by what is eventually produced.

I think those of us working in the Healing Arts need this too.

Time away from other people’s expectations, opinions and distractions can create the conditions in which we listen more deeply — to ourselves, to our instincts, and to what may be asking for our attention.

For those of us whose healing work is grounded in relationship with the natural and more-than-human world, this spaciousness is essential. Relationship needs tending. It asks for time, presence, stillness and a willingness to listen.

Perhaps some of the most important work we do is not always visible from the outside.

May we all find the space and time we need to listen for, and honour, the deeper work that calls us.

Louise Bourgeois’s quote “To be an artist, you need to exist in a world of silence” is about creating the mental space needed to make art.

She suggests that an artist needs moments of solitude, stillness and freedom from outside noise—other people’s expectations, opinions and distractions—in order to hear their own thoughts and instincts.

It doesn’t necessarily mean literal silence. It means turning inward and trusting your own creative voice.

In essence: great art often begins when the noise of the outside world becomes quiet.

Today, the first day of spring, is National Wattle Day.

Our wattles are blooming just in time for the start of the season, bringing a beautiful burst of colour amongst the greens and greys of the eucalypts.

In the noticing of it, we find we can’t help but feel uplifted — at least for a moment.

We hope you too find something today that lifts your spirits, and that you can take a moment to simply be with it.

We’ve come to the end of a beautiful weekend at the Albury Psychic & Wellbeing Expo.

Our second and final day brought more lovely conversations, new connections and some very special Reiki moments for Jenny — including offering Reiki to an open and curious child who was keen to experience it for himself. Mum sent us a message afterwards to say he hasn't stopped talking about it ☺

We’ve come home feeling grateful for the conversations, curiosity and openness we encountered across the weekend, and for everyone who stopped by the Wild Sacred Medicine space to say hello, ask questions, experience Reiki or simply spend a little time with us.

Thank you Albury/Wodonga — it was lovely to spend the weekend with you.

A beautiful first day at the Albury Psychic & Wellbeing Expo.

We’ve had such a lovely day sharing Wild Sacred Medicine with the Albury/Wodonga community and surrounds.

I offered an introduction to Ancestral Lineage Healing, while Jenny spent much of the day offering complimentary seated Reiki sessions — beginning, as she does, by taking a little time to settle, connect and prepare sacred space for the work.

It was especially wonderful to have a few familiar faces travel over from Beechworth to say hello, alongside meeting so many new people and having some wonderful conversations throughout the day.

We’re grateful for everyone who stopped by, shared a conversation, experienced Reiki, came along to the talk, or simply spent a little time getting to know what we do.

And we’ll be back again tomorrow (Sunday) to do it all again.

I’ll be sharing the Ancestral Lineage Healing talk at 3pm, and Jenny will be offering complimentary seated Reiki sessions from 11am.

We’d love to see you there.

We’ll be at the Albury Psychic & Wellbeing Expo this weekend.

If you’re heading along, Jenny and I would love you to come by the Wild Sacred Medicine stand and say hello.

Jenny will be offering free 15-minute seated Reiki sessions across the weekend, and I’ll be sharing a 30-minute introduction to Ancestral Lineage Healing.

It’s also simply an opportunity to meet us, have a chat and learn a little more about the different ways we work through Wild Sacred Medicine.

Saturday & Sunday, 29–30 August
10am–4pm | SS&A Club Albury

We’d love to see some familiar local faces there.

Okay friends, for those of you who know Jenny, you'll know she does not particularly like the spotlight — well, it is with great pleasure that I bring this feature from last Friday's Ovens & Murray Advertiser to your attention! 😊

Jenny shares a little of the journey that has shaped her work, her love of the outdoors and community, and what continues to inspire her.

I thought I'd share it here for those who might enjoy getting to know a little more about the person behind some of the work at Wild Sacred Medicine.

Have a read and let me know your thoughts.

A beautiful opportunity to learn Reiki while experiencing the wisdom and presence of horses as teachers.

I am very excited to be heading north to Duroby, NSW, to co-facilitate this upcoming Equine Reiki Level I & II Training with Sonja of Equine Reiki.

And a little reminder — you don’t need to own horses, or even intend to work with horses, to take part. The training teaches the foundations of Reiki, which can be offered to ourselves, other people and animals, with Level II providing a pathway to practise Reiki professionally.

Wild Blessings, Jenny

Have you been feeling called to learn how to heal horses?

Join us for an immersive experience doing just that, in the beautiful Duroby, northern NSW:

Equine Reiki Level I & II Training
Where heart and soul meet - with horses as our teachers.

Have you ever felt that being with a horse invites you into a quieter, truer place within yourself? A place where presence matters more than effort, and connection matters more than technique?

This four-day immersive Equine Reiki training offers a heart-led way of being with horses, yourself, and life. It is not about fixing or striving, but about remembering how to listen; to the horse, to your own inner knowing, and to the Reiki intelligence that supports balance and wellbeing.

This combined Level I & II training offers a profound path of self-discovery and, for those who wish, a clear and ethical foundation for offering Equine Reiki in service to others.

If you have ever sensed that horses invite something truer from you and felt a quiet wish to make a difference in their lives, this training offers a space to meet that calling with care, presence, and heart.

This training is for you if:
• you love horses and feel called to deeper connection
• you are seeking personal healing, and greater purpose
• you wish to support your own horse in a more attuned way
• and/or you feel called to offer Equine Reiki professionally

Want to know more?

If you feel drawn to this training and would like to know whether it’s the right fit for you, you’re warmly invited to reach out.

You can email Sonja and Jenny directly at [email protected] with any questions, or simply to start a conversation.

We’re happy to share details, investment, and to support you in discerning whether this training is right for you.

This time last week, we had commenced three days of deep ancestral work, as I supported Lyndal Walker Conversations in Time and Michelle Ayn Tessensohn - The Way of Self-Healing for an Ancestral Lineage Healing Intensive in Melbourne.

Over the three days, we gathered in ritual, teaching, contemplation and practice — tending relationship with our ancestors, honouring the land, discovering ancestral blessings and supporting the healing of lineage burdens.

It was a privilege to support this work and to witness the care, courage and sincerity each person brought to their own ancestral relationships.

The beautiful offering pictured here grew throughout our time together, becoming a living centrepiece for the work — shaped through ritual and contributed to across the three days.

One participant generously shared these words afterwards:

“I leave with deep gratitude for Lyndal, Michelle and Eliza Beth, and for the beauty, integrity and reverence with which this work is carried and shared. This was powerful work, held with great tenderness, wisdom and respect. I feel honoured to have been part of it.”

Deep gratitude for a very special three days, Eliza-Beth Brennan
