Bird of the Week π¦
This week's bird is the Black Swan. With their striking black feathers and bright red beak, these elegant birds are a familiar sight across Australian wetlands, lakes and waterways. They mate for life, often forming bonds that last decades.
When a Black Swan loses its partner, they've been observed showing visible signs of grief, staying near where their mate was last seen, calling out, and withdrawing from the rest of the flock for a time. Eventually, many go on to find a new mate and continue on.
A reminder from the team at Mindset Health Hub that moving forward doesn't mean forgetting, and grief and resilience can exist at the same time.
