RUOK Day Part 1

RUOK Day is a reminder to check in on the people around us, but it's also an invitation to check in on ourselves. Honestly. Not the 'I'm fine' version.

If something has felt heavy lately, that matters. You dont need to be in crisis to ask for support or to admit that things are hard.

Reach out to someone today. And if you need help, please dont hesitate to contact someone who can support you. You dont have to carry this alone.

If you've been following the Nervous System & You series over the past few months, thank you. I hope something in it was useful for you.

That series was about understanding what's happening beneath the surface of how we respond and feel. This next one is about what we actually do with that understanding.

Starting Monday I'm launching a new series called Self-Care & You. It's not about adding more things to your routine or feeling guilty for not doing them perfectly. It's about building something that's genuinely personal to you, practical, honest, and sustainable.

Is there anything about self-care that you have struggled with or that you would like help to manage? Drop it below, it might just shape what I write next.

Your Nervous System & You - Series

Something honest to close this series with.

Some patterns run deeper than understanding alone can reach.

This series has touched on a lot - what your nervous system is, how it develops its patterns, what safety actually means, how patterns show up in your relationships and intimacy, and what starting to shift them can look like.

All of that matters. Education and awareness are genuinely valuable.

But sometimes, understanding isn't quite enough. And recognising that isn't failure. It's clarity.

The deeper work is relational and embodied. It happens in the presence of another person, in a space that's safe enough to slow down and be honest. It reaches the nervous system at the level where patterns actually live - in the body, not just the mind.

If you've been following this series and something has been quietly stirring - if you've recognised yourself and found yourself wondering what more might look like - my Connection Call is a free, no-pressure place to start.

Just a conversation. To see if working together feels right.

Feel free to reach out directly, or find the link on my profile.

Your Nervous System & You - Series

Building nervous system safety isn't about grand gestures or dramatic shifts.

It happens in small moments. Repeated consistently. Over time.

Notice before you react - the gap between a trigger and your response is where awareness lives. You can't always slow the response, but you can begin to see it.

Come back to your body - in ordinary moments. Feet on the floor. Hand on your chest. One breath. These small acts signal to the nervous system that it can begin to settle.

Allow goodness to land - safety isn't only built by processing difficulty. It's also built by pausing long enough to actually feel something good.

Value repair over perfection - in relationships, safety is built less by never having conflict and more by how conflict is repaired.

Seek the right support - some patterns need more than practice alone. Body-aware, trauma-informed support makes a genuine difference.

This is ongoing work. And it's real work.

If you're curious about what that support might look like, feel free to reach out or book a Connection Call.

Where might you start? I'd love to hear.

Have you ever been triggered by a person or situation?

What if your nervous system is trying to tell you something?

Here are some questions to ask yourself to help understand what your triggers are trying to tell you:

• What is going on... am I hungry, tired or run down? Am I sick or in pain? Am I hormonal?

• Is this a story from my past that needs more healing?

• Is this a boundary that has been crossed? Is this a person that has wronged me or a behaviour that needs to be rectified?

• Is this an area of my life I need to change? A lesson I need to learn or an area for more growth?

• What is mine to own and what belongs to the other person?

• Am I taking care of myself? Are my needs being met?

Exploring these questions supports you to make informed and empowered choices to move forward.

Hope this helps, but please reach out if you would like more information.

I'm incredibly honoured to share that I'm a finalist in the Women with Altitude - Altitude Awards 2026 in the Solo Trailblazer category.

I wasn't planning on entering the awards this year, but after receiving a nomination, I decided to take the leap.

Running a business is one of the most rewarding things I've ever done, and at times, one of the most challenging. What keeps me going is the privilege of supporting people to understand themselves more deeply. Watching clients move from stress, pain and uncertainty to greater clarity, hope and possibility is why I do this work.

Being named a finalist is an opportunity to pause, reflect and celebrate the journey alongside an incredible community of business owners. It's also a reminder that even the small, consistent steps we take each day are worth celebrating.

Thank you to everyone who has supported, encouraged and believed in me along the way. I truly appreciate every conversation, referral, message and word of encouragement. I wouldn't be here without you.

Your Nervous System & You - Series

Something I come back to often in this work.

Nervous system safety in your relationships begins with nervous system safety in yourself.

Not as something that has to be perfect before you're allowed to connect. As a foundation - an internal steadiness that makes genuine connection possible.

Building that safety is quiet work. It's learning to notice what you feel without immediately dismissing it. Learning to respond to your own needs with care rather than criticism. Learning to stay with yourself - even when it's uncomfortable - rather than abandoning your own experience.

It doesn't happen overnight. It's not linear. And it often needs support - because the patterns we're working with were built in relationship, and they often shift most powerfully in relationship too.

But it always starts in the same place. A turning toward yourself rather than away.

If this series has stirred something for you and you're curious about what support might look like, my Connection Call is a place to start.

Or simply - what would it mean to feel safer inside yourself? I'd love to hear it.

Have you ever found yourself lying in bed at night, desperately wanting to fall asleep, but instead your mind keeps replaying the same thoughts over and over?

Maybe you've had a disagreement with your partner or your children.
Maybe something is happening at work.
Maybe you're worried about money.

Whatever the reason, when our nervous system feels activated, our minds often follow.

In this video, I share a personal story about how I used a simple breathwork technique to help my body settle so my mind could finally slow down and I could get some sleep.

If this resonates with you, I'd encourage you to explore simple down-regulating breathing techniques such as circle breathing or box breathing. They can be incredibly supportive when we're feeling stressed, anxious or overwhelmed.

I'm currently creating a collection of practical breathwork resources and I'd love your input.

What would you find most helpful?
🎥 An instructional video?
🎧 A guided audio?
📄 A printable worksheet?
Or would you like all of the above?

I've been a grateful member of the Women with Altitude community for the past few years, so it was a real privilege to recently join them as a guest on their podcast.

It's always a little vulnerable sharing your own story, but I'm so grateful for the opportunity to have this conversation.

We spoke about my journey into business, the challenges I've faced along the way, the importance of finding the right community, and a belief that sits at the heart of my work:

The relationship we have with ourselves shapes the way we experience every aspect of our lives.

If you'd like to watch or listen to the episode, you'll find the links in the comments.

I'd love to hear what resonates with you.

Your Nervous System & You - Series

Something I want to address honestly today.

You can understand exactly why you respond the way you do - and still find yourself doing it.

This is one of the most common and most frustrating experiences I hear about. People who have done real work on themselves. Who understand their patterns. Who can trace them back to their origins. And who still find themselves bracing, withdrawing, or reacting in the same old ways.

Here's what I want to offer: that's not failure. That's just how the nervous system works.

Insight lives in the mind. Nervous system patterns live in the body - in automatic responses that happen faster than thought. You can't think your way out of them.

Real change at a nervous system level comes from new experiences. New patterns of safety, repeated enough that the body begins to update what it expects.

That's what this phase of the series is about - what it actually looks like to move from understanding to something that feels genuinely different.

Has this ever resonated? I'd love to hear it below.
