“Steph has restored my confidence, and my future bone health feels positive again. Seeing my strength, flexibility, and balance continually improve is what keeps me going.”— Diane, 70 (and improving)
Many people stay active, eat well, and do all the “right things” — yet bone health can still quietly decline, especially after menopause. Diane’s story is a powerful reminder that movement matters, and that it’s never too late to build strength, confidence, and resilience.
Being fit and active all my life, I never gave my bones much thought. After menopause I was diagnosed with osteopenia, but once again never thought about the long-term consequences – I was still active, walking, cycling, yoga and eating a healthy diet as well as being a non-smoker.
In May 2023 I experienced a traumatic injury to my back which resulted in 7 vertebrae being compressed with 1 being totally flattened. Whilst I now knew I had osteoporosis and had been on Actonel, I had not thought about what other steps may have been available to reduce the chance of serious bone damage. Whilst the resultant injury from the accident was caused by trauma, it made me look for other ways of looking after my bones.
Once introduced to Steph at Active Range, an exercise physiologist specialising in bone health, I started to understand that there were other non-drug avenues to improve bone health. The program developed for me has been dynamic and changing with the strength I have been building. The app, tailored to me, has given me the session guidance I need to continually improve. Steph has restored my confidence, and my future (bone health) appears more positive. I visit Steph throughout the year, utilising my GP Medicare referral to measure my progress, check my exercise form and further adapt the program to continually improve my strength.
Seeing my strength, flexibility and balance continually improving has been my main motivation for continuing the program.
Having three daughters all approaching menopause, I now encourage them to take a more active role in their bone health.
