NOURISHING MUM, NOT JUST BABY

Everyone asks what baby needs.
But what about Mum?

After birth, so much of the focus naturally goes to feeding, settling and caring for your little one — while Mum can end up running on cold cups of tea, whatever is left on the plate and very little sleep.

But you need nourishment too. ❤️

Your body has just been through something huge and it needs food, fluids and rest to support recovery and help you feel like yourself again.

Think:

🥚 protein to support repair and recovery
🥬 colourful fruit & vegetables for vitamins, minerals and fibre
🥑 healthy fats to help keep meals satisfying
🍞 nourishing carbohydrates for energy
💧 plenty of fluids, especially if breastfeeding

And please don’t feel like every meal needs to be perfect.

A piece of toast with eggs counts.
A handful of nuts and fruit counts.
Leftovers for breakfast? Absolutely.
Someone bringing you dinner? Let them. ❤️

Postpartum nutrition isn’t about getting your body back.

It’s about giving your body what it needs to recover, nourish and care for your little one.

And sometimes, nourishing Mum means accepting the help, eating the easy meal and putting your own needs on the list too.

You don’t need to do it all yourself. Give yourself permission to be nourished, too. ❤️

Thank you ma Nadia for looking after us 🙏🙌🥰

Dinner in 20 minutes? Try this 🙌

My Asian-inspired savoury mince is one of those easy midweek meals where you can throw in whatever vegetables you have hanging around in the fridge.

You’ll need:

Turkey mince
Garlic
Fresh ginger
Onion
Capsicum, chopped
Zucchini, chopped
A handful of frozen vegetables
A splash of soy sauce
Cornflour to thicken
A little oil for cooking
Method:

1. Heat a little oil in a large pan and cook the onion, garlic and ginger until fragrant.

2. Add the turkey mince and cook until browned.
Throw in whatever vegetables you have — I used capsicum, zucchini and frozen veg.

3. Add a splash of soy sauce and a little water.
Mix cornflour with a small amount of cold water to make a slurry, then stir it through the mince.
Simmer for a few minutes until thickened and delicious.

4. Serve on its own, with steamed rice, noodles or even in lettuce cups. 🥬

Quick, nutritious, budget-friendly and a great way to use up those leftover veggies!

What vegetables would you throw in? 👇
