June is National Employee Wellness Month 💜

At My Village Carers, we believe that caring for others starts with caring for our team.

The work we do every day is meaningful, rewarding, and impactful — but we also understand that working in the care industry can be emotionally, mentally, and physically demanding.

This month is a reminder to prioritise wellbeing, support one another, and take the time to reset when needed. Whether you are a support worker, coordinator, admin team member, cleaner, gardener, or working behind the scenes — every role matters, and so does your wellbeing.

As part of our commitment to staff wellness, all MVC employees have access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), including up to 6 confidential sessions per year.

A healthy, supported team creates stronger outcomes for the people we support every day. 🧡💜

Thank you to our incredible staff for the compassion, patience, and dedication you continue to show our participants and community. We truly appreciate everything you do.

Support Coordination isn’t just paperwork and phone calls.

It’s helping people navigate a system that can feel overwhelming.
It’s advocating when voices aren’t being heard.
It’s finding the right supports, building confidence, and creating real opportunities for independence.

At My Village Carers, we believe support should feel human, not rushed or transactional.

Something BIG is coming to Bendigo… 👀

We’ve been hinting at exciting changes behind the scenes — and now it’s official!

Murphy House is officially under new management, with My Village Carers now taking over operations and transitioning the service into a larger SIL, ILO and NDIS accommodation model.

We are incredibly excited to be working alongside SASS Care in a new and innovative partnership focused on supporting independence, choice and control, and creating meaningful opportunities for participants.

As part of this exciting next chapter:
• My Village Carers will operate Murphy House accommodation and SIL supports
• SASS Care will continue providing community access supports
• Women of SASS will continue running weekly from Murphy House

We truly believe collaboration between providers creates stronger supports, better communication, and more opportunities for the people we support.

We will also have capacity to consider new participants as part of this expansion. If you would like to have a chat about supports or accommodation options, please reach out to Briahna.

This is just the start of an exciting new chapter — and we can’t wait to share what’s ahead. ✨

Watch this space.

Happy International Day of Families

Families look different for everyone.

For some, it’s parents and children.
For others, it’s grandparents, carers, friends, or the people who step in when it’s needed most.

Because family isn’t always about who you’re related to —
it’s about who shows up, who supports you, and who stands beside you.

At My Village Carers, we see every day how important that support network is.
Not just for the person receiving support — but for the whole family around them.

The late nights.
The appointments.
The advocating.
The constant care.

It takes a lot. And it doesn’t go unnoticed.

Today, we recognise and appreciate all families — in every form.

Because it really does take a village.

🚨 Proposed NDIS Changes Introduced to Parliament 🚨

NDIS Minister Mark Butler has introduced the NDIS (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill to the House of Representatives.

These proposed changes are the first step in the NDIS redesign discussions announced at the National Press Club in April.

There is a LOT included in this Bill, and while we are still working through the full details, some of the key proposed changes include:

🔹 Defining “functional capacity” for NDIS eligibility
🔹 Stricter rules around plan reassessments
🔹 Funding tied only to approved impairments
🔹 Potential reductions to funding for some supports, including social/community participation
🔹 All plans having an end date, with unspent funds no longer rolling over
🔹 Changes to what is considered “reasonable and necessary”
🔹 Tighter rules around proving a disability is permanent
🔹 Greater NDIA compliance and enforcement powers
🔹 New record-keeping requirements for participants, nominees, and providers
🔹 Claims needing to be submitted within 90 days
🔹 Changes to plan management arrangements
🔹 Ability for the Minister to set prices for NDIS services
🔹 Automated decision-making processes within the NDIS

These are significant proposed reforms that could impact participants, families, providers, support coordinators, and the broader disability sector.

At this stage, this is still a Bill and has not yet become law. There will likely be ongoing discussions, consultation, and amendments as it progresses through Parliament.

We encourage everyone to stay informed, ask questions, and seek clarification where needed.

Not all NDIS providers are good providers.

And that’s the truth.

Some don’t communicate.
Some don’t listen.
Some make things harder than they need to be.

And unfortunately… people think that’s just how it is.

It’s not.

Support should feel:
✔ Clear
✔ Respectful
✔ Reliable

Not frustrating.
Not confusing.
Not something you have to chase.

And we’ll be honest —
we’re not perfect either.

If we ever get something wrong,
we want to hear it.
We listen, we learn, and we do better.

Because this isn’t about being perfect.
It’s about providing the right support.

You’re allowed to expect more.
And you’re allowed to find support that actually works for you.
