A huge shoutout to Pete who played his very first game of netball for the All Abilities team. 🏐

Pete did an amazing job in his first time on the netball court, making plenty of great passes and shooting a couple of goals. It was fantastic to see his confidence grow throughout the game and how much he enjoyed being part of the team.

One of the highlights of the game was Pete getting to share the court with another You Matter local, Sancia. Seeing our participants out there together, supporting each other and enjoying the game made the moment even more special.

Moments like these are what it’s all about; building confidence, trying new things, connecting with others, and being part of the community.

We’re so proud of you Pete - what an awesome first game.

🏀 A Huge Achievement Worth Celebrating! 🏀

Yesterday was a massive milestone for one of our incredible participants. 10 year old Jaxon, walked into the Red Energy Arena for the very first time and stepped onto the basketball court to have a game.

What might seem like a simple moment for some was actually a huge personal achievement. With the encouragement, patience and support of his amazing support workers, Jaxon was able to build the confidence to walk into a big arena environment and enjoy playing basketball.

Moments like this are exactly why community access and the right supports matter so much. Seeing our participants challenge themselves, build confidence and achieve goals they once thought were out of reach is what it’s all about.

We couldn’t be prouder of this little legend and the dedicated team supporting him. 👏🏼

A huge congratulations to our incredible participant Peter Spranaitis on receiving the Best Club Person Award at the Maiden Gully Marist Cricket Club Awards! 🏏

This award is a true reflection of Peter’s dedication, passion, and loyalty to his club throughout the entire season.

Whether it’s supporting his teammates, showing up with a positive attitude, or simply being an all-round great club member, Peter consistently embodies what community sport is all about.

We are so proud to see Peter recognised for the contribution he makes both on and off the field. Achievements like this highlight how powerful inclusion and community involvement can be.

🍝 Pasta, People & Plenty of Smiles! 😊

Our participants and support workers recently enjoyed an amazing night out at Amici Della Farina, where they took part in a fantastic pasta-making class hosted by Waiari.

From mixing and kneading to shaping fresh pasta, everyone got hands-on and had a go at creating something delicious from scratch. There were plenty of laughs, great teamwork, and of course… some very tasty results! 😋

Experiences like this are what it’s all about—building skills, confidence, and connections in a fun and supportive environment.

A big thank you to Waiari for hosting such a welcoming and enjoyable class, and to Amici Della Farina for the beautiful space. We can’t wait to do it again!

What a great day out at Crusoe Reservoir! ☀️🎣

Last week, Jaxon headed out for some magnet fishing and had an absolute blast exploring, learning, and enjoying the outdoors. From spotting wildlife to pulling up some interesting finds, it was all about adventure, confidence, and having a go!

At You Matter Disability, we love creating opportunities like this where our clients can try new things, build skills, and most importantly—have fun.

⭐️ The Best Day Ever ⭐️

Some days remind us exactly why we do what we do.

Hudson recently had the opportunity of a lifetime - attending the Melbourne Victory game at AAMI Park with his Mum, his brother and support worker Sophie, thanks to the incredible Starlight Foundation.

And what a night it was ⚽️💙

Hudson entered through the corporate entrance, received his very own personalised Melbourne Victory shirt, and was given exclusive access to the back of house area.

But that was just the beginning…

He and his brother stood side by side as the players came out of the change rooms - high fiving them as they ran out to the field.

They were given the honour of presenting the referee with the official game ball at the start of the match.

Hudson was interviewed by Melbourne Victory staff, confidently sharing who he thought would win and how excited he was to be there - getting the whole crowd laughing in the process.

The Starlight Captains spent time playing with the boys, and watching the game alongside them, making the experience nothing short of magical.

To top it all off, Hudson went home with a silk Victory scarf and memories that will last a lifetime.

When asked about his evening, Hudson said it was “the best day ever”

And that right there is why community access matters. It’s why inclusive experiences matter.
It’s why we do what we do.

A heartfelt thank you to the Starlight Foundation and Melbourne Victory for creating such an unforgettable experience for Hudson and his family.

Are you a caring, reliable and down to earth support worker who genuinely loves making a difference?
We’re looking for passionate support workers to join our team and support a diverse range of participants in the community and in their home.

You’ll be supporting participants with day to day living and community access, tailored to their individual goals and needs. Supports may include:

- Personal care
- Community participation and social support
- Assistance with daily living tasks
-Supporting participants with complex behaviours
- Implementing behaviour support strategies
-Building strong, respectful relationships with participants and families

You must have;
- Experience in disability support, including complex needs/behaviours.
- Confidence with personal care and manual handling.
- A calm, patient and person centred approach.
- Strong communication skills and professionalism.
- Reliability and a genuine passion for supporting others.

You will be joining a supportive, values-driven team and a workplace that genuinely lives by the belief that you matter too.
