🌟 WE’RE HIRING – FEMALE DISABILITY SUPPORT WORKER | BENDIGO 🌟

You Matter D.S. is looking for a mature, experienced and dedicated Female Disability Support Worker to join our team in Bendigo.

This casual position involves supporting a female participant with Behaviours of Concern (BOC). We’re looking for someone who is calm, confident, patient and experienced in supporting people with complex behaviours.

💙 The right person will have:
• Minimum 2 years’ experience working with people with disability
• Experience supporting people with complex behaviours/BOC
• Confidence implementing behaviour support strategies
• A calm and consistent approach during challenging situations
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• The ability to work well within an existing team dynamic
• A current Australian Driver Licence

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who understands the importance of consistency, trust and building a positive relationship with the participant and their support team.

📍 Location: Bendigo, VIC
🕐 Employment: Casual
🚗 Work: In person
🇦🇺 Applicants must currently reside in Australia and have unrestricted working rights.

🌟 Participant Spotlight - Sancia 🌟

Today we're excited to introduce one of the amazing people we have the privilege of supporting at You Matter D.S. 🩷

Sancia has a huge passion for all things farming 🚜 and absolutely loves sheep 🐑. Whether it's talking about life on the farm, spotting sheep while out and about, or enjoying the country lifestyle, it's easy to see what brings her joy.

Our team proudly supports her through Supported Independent Living (SIL), helping her build independence while living a life that's meaningful to her. Alongside Sancia's daily living supports, we also support her to:

💪 Attend the gym
🌊 Go swimming
🏅 Participate in sport
🛍️ Access the community
🚗 Travel around town and enjoy new experiences

Every day is an opportunity to build confidence, develop independence, and create meaningful memories doing the things she loves most. Seeing Sancia's confidence grow and watching her achieve her goals is what makes our work so rewarding.

✨ Saturday Night Magic! ✨

What a fantastic evening out! 🪄🎭

One of our amazing Support Workers Corrine accompanied one of our participants Nicky to Cosentino: Tricked – An Evening of Wonder at Ulumbarra Theatre on Saturday night. From incredible illusions to plenty of laughter and amazement, it was a night to remember!

Experiences like these are about so much more than entertainment! They're about building confidence, creating meaningful memories, encouraging community participation, and enjoying the things that bring joy.

Thank you to our wonderful Corinne for making this special night possible and allowing Nicky to create positive long lasting memories in the community 🩷

🏉 A great night out at the footy! 🖤💛

Last Saturday night, our Support Worker Lais and participant Peter enjoyed an exciting evening at the MCG, cheering on the Richmond Tigers as they took on Collingwood.

At You Matter D.S., we love supporting participants to get out into the community, enjoy their interests, and create meaningful memories. Whether it's attending sporting events, exploring new places, or participating in favourite hobbies, we're here to help make those experiences possible.

Thanks Lais for making it such a fun night out and allowing Peter the opportunity to watch his favourite team live. We hope you both had an amazing time! 🐯🏟️

A huge shoutout to Pete who played his very first game of netball for the All Abilities team. 🏐

Pete did an amazing job in his first time on the netball court, making plenty of great passes and shooting a couple of goals. It was fantastic to see his confidence grow throughout the game and how much he enjoyed being part of the team.

One of the highlights of the game was Pete getting to share the court with another You Matter local, Sancia. Seeing our participants out there together, supporting each other and enjoying the game made the moment even more special.

Moments like these are what it’s all about; building confidence, trying new things, connecting with others, and being part of the community.

We’re so proud of you Pete - what an awesome first game.

🏀 A Huge Achievement Worth Celebrating! 🏀

Yesterday was a massive milestone for one of our incredible participants. 10 year old Jaxon, walked into the Red Energy Arena for the very first time and stepped onto the basketball court to have a game.

What might seem like a simple moment for some was actually a huge personal achievement. With the encouragement, patience and support of his amazing support workers, Jaxon was able to build the confidence to walk into a big arena environment and enjoy playing basketball.

Moments like this are exactly why community access and the right supports matter so much. Seeing our participants challenge themselves, build confidence and achieve goals they once thought were out of reach is what it’s all about.

We couldn’t be prouder of this little legend and the dedicated team supporting him. 👏🏼
