National Blood Donor Week June 8th to 14th

When you donate, you become a lifesaver for someone in need!

🩸Being a blood or plasma donor helps ensure there is enough blood for people who may need it.
🩸Blood donations are used to help treat medical conditions such as cancer and anaemia, as well as during medical emergencies.
🩸You can choose to donate blood, platelets or plasma.
🩸Before donating, you must complete a questionnaire — there are certain health requirements you need to meet to be able to donate blood.
🩸You can donate blood every 12 weeks or plasma every 2 weeks at a blood donor centre.

Make Lifeblood part of your routine, whether you're donating blood, plasma, breast milk, microbiota or organ and tissue.

Thank a First Responder Day was established in 2020 as a way to publicly express gratitude to the hundreds of thousands of first responders who are there for us day in and day out.

First responders are ordinary people. They have families, friends, commitments, and homes to go to at the end of their working day. Yet, they dedicate every day to protecting our communities and keeping us safe.

Being a first responder can be challenging, for both first responders and their families. But the power of gratitude can have an extraordinary impact on wellbeing and mental health

Our wonderful Pharmacist Mita has generously decided again to donate her hair to Variety Hair With Heart.

Hair with Heart is the national fundraising and hair donation program run by Variety – The Children’s Charity. The origins of Hair with Heart began in 2007 when former rugby league player Matthew Adamson’s daughter Charlotte was diagnosed with alopecia – an auto-immune condition that causes hair loss.

Matthew and his wife Rebecca established the Princess Charlotte Alopecia Foundation soon after to promote awareness of alopecia in the community and raise funds to supply quality human hair wigs to people with alopecia. In 2013, the Foundation became part of the Variety family, becoming the Princess Charlotte Alopecia Program. Building on the amazing work of Matthew, Rebecca and their volunteers, it has continued to grow – granting wigs to children with alopecia and other medical conditions and accepting hair donations to make into wigs for kids and adults with hair loss due to a medical condition. In 2016, the program grew into the Hair with Heart program.
