Caring Together Expo 2026. 💙

Our 2026 Community Partner, Dementia Alliance Reflections at Eppalock, brought the community alive with smiles, conversation, music, food, activities and connection at their Caring Together Expo.

Carers, people living with dementia, families, service providers, volunteers, students and community organisations came together for a day that was warm, practical and full of hope.

More than an event, the Expo showcased the power of community-led dementia care - creating a space where people could gather information, ask questions, build relationships, reduce isolation and be reminded that they are not alone.

We're proud to support the incredible work Reflections at Eppalock and their commitment to fostering connection, understanding and support within our community.

🩸 One Drop of Humanity. Give Blood. Save Lives. 🩸

Today is World Blood Donor Day. We celebrate the incredible generosity of blood donors whose simple act of kindness helps save lives every single day.

A single blood donation can save up to three lives.
It takes just one hour to donate, but the impact can last a lifetime.

It supports patients undergoing surgery, cancer treatment, childbirth complications, emergency care and the ongoing management of serious health
conditions.

If you've ever thought about becoming a donor, now is the perfect time. Our local community can donate at the Lifeblood Bendigo Donor Centre, located at 6–8 High Street, Bendigo, or book an appointment online at lifeblood.com.au.

Thank you to everyone who has rolled up their sleeve and given the gift of life. ❤️

Billabongs Not Silos: Beyond Symbolism launches this month in Bendigo, bringing together Indigenous artworks and cultural objects from organisations across Victoria.

Led by La Trobe University in partnership with the City of Greater Bendigo, the exhibition explores how cultural objects are not just symbols of inclusion, but living holders of knowledge, responsibility and connection. It challenges institutions to move beyond symbolic gestures and consider how Indigenous knowledge, relationships and leadership are meaningfully embedded in their work.

We’re proud to have contributed two artworks and be part of this important collaboration, which brings together health, education and community organisations to share stories of culture, healing, identity and connection.

After 17 years of dedicated service, we farewell and celebrate the retirement of Lea Wardrop.🧡

For over a decade with Cura and the past five years with St John of God Bendigo Hospital, Lea has been a quiet achiever whose impact has been felt across every corner of the hospital. Working tirelessly behind the scenes, she played a pivotal role in ensuring medications were always where they needed to be, often going above and beyond to source difficult-to-procure medications when others had exhausted every avenue.

Lea's incredible work ethic, reliability and commitment to patient care made her an invaluable member of our team. Colleagues often joked that she did the work of three people, but it was her unwavering dedication and willingness to step up whenever needed that truly set her apart.

Thank you, Lea, for your years of service, your quiet dedication and the difference you've made to our hospital community. We wish you all the best for a well-earned retirement filled with family, grandchildren and, of course, plenty of time with your beloved horses.

Last week, we welcomed healthcare professionals from across the region to our Women’s Health Across the Lifespan event at the Quality Hotel Lakeside.

Attendees heard from nine of our experienced obstetricians, gynaecologists and maternity leaders, who shared practical strategies for managing common women's health presentations across every stage of life. The sessions also provided valuable insights into referral pathways and the maternity services available at St John of God Bendigo Hospital.

A sincere thank you to our presenters – A/Prof Peter Roessler, Dr Anju Agarwal, Dr Emma Buckland, Dr Thomas Carins, Dr Emma Clifton, Nicole Harris, Dr Emily Kelly, Dr Carrie Paulsen and Dr Cameron Sharp – for generously sharing their expertise and experience.

Thank you also to the wonderful team at Quality Hotel Lakeside for hosting us, and to our sponsors – Bendigo Radiology, Besins Healthcare, Evaris Pharma and Gedeon Richter – whose support helped make the evening possible.

We are grateful to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the event. We look forward to continuing to provide educational opportunities that strengthen partnerships and support the delivery of exceptional care for women in our community.

🎨 Now Showing in Our Art Space: Ro Windust

We are delighted to welcome local artist Ro Windust to our Art Space program at St John of God Bendigo Hospital.

A self-taught artist inspired by colour, nature and a sense of play, Ro’s love of creativity began in childhood - choosing a set of textas over a bag of lollies every time. Today, that same passion shines through in her vibrant and expressive artworks.

By day, Ro works in the tech world, but by night she brings animals and stories to life through bold colour, warmth and personality. Her work celebrates the beauty of the natural world with a touch of whimsy, designed to bring joy into everyday spaces.
Be sure to take a moment to enjoy Ro’s stunning exhibition next time you visit our hospital 💙
