Thank you to everyone who has come to the Full and Dark Moon Ritual Gatherings - where we do a deep dive into the cultural customs of our ancestors.
In these ritual events, each person is an integral member of the ritual. Each carries a sacred role for the evening that was chosen by each person as they entered the ritual room (a scroll was waiting for to be chosen by each person).
And what I have found absolutely incredible is that regardless of whether the person had heard of this archetype or not, whether they had partaken in ritual before or not, and whether they had worked with me before or not.....
Each person stood energetically in their sacred role as we performed the customs of our ancestors and created a sacred space to enquire:
- what is coming up for me?
- what is ready to be released?
- what is ready to emerge?
- how can I connect more deeply with my ancestors?
For thousands of years our ancestors gathered on sacred evenings to share story, wisdom, community and laughter.
For thousands of years our ancestors ,within the sacred lineages such as the Druids, gathered on sacred evenings to peer into the future for the benefit of their community.
And the incredible power of reclaiming these spaces is perhaps beyond my ability to articulate.....but let me try.
Our bodies are entirely made up of our DNA. Our DNA is a conglomerate of the ancestors that came before us.
Therefore, you are made up of your ancestors.
Their knowledge, their power, their connection to land and spirit - all rests within our bodies. All of these knowings and practices sit within the cells of our bodies.
So when we partake in customs that may be new to us.....they are not new to our bodies.
And we begin to tap into this dormant energetic power that lays in waiting within the cells of your body......meaning, your body is now connected and aware of the energy of your ancestors....so far everyone has walked in to the ritual as one person, and left as a far more embodied and soothed version.
I simply LOVE bringing this work to Central Victoria.

What's the tradition?
In Cornwall, every 12 months you would visit the Peller and give an exchange for a 12 month protection bag against negative forces.

Traditionally, you never thanked the Peller as it was believed to break the amulet powers. Instead, you simply said "this looks well made" in honour of the Pellers magic.

And most importantly, you NEVER open the bag. NEVER. If the bag is opened - the magic is lost.

This was held as such a sacred belief that archaeologist have found these bags.... STILL SEALED... Hundreds of years later!

Are you trying to grow your hair longer? Then cut it now....

Our ancient ancestors believed that cutting your hair during the waxing moon cycle helped your hair grow faster! (Waxing moon is the growth cycle between new and full moon).

Whereas, if you wanted your hair to stop growing so quickly; you should trim it during the waning cycle (full moon to dark moon).

By working with the cycles of the cosmos, our ancestors believed they were working with the creative energy of that time: growth vs reduction.

Did you know that our ancient Celtic ancestors DID NOT PRACTICE RITUAL MAGIC ON THE FULL MOON??? ⬇️⛈️🌑🍀

That's right..... Its an entirely modern creation to gather on the full moon to practice magic....

There was no standing in circle under the full moon.

There was no praying to the moon to bring wealth, love or abundance.

There was no moon bathing or clearing under its rays.

In fact......

IT WAS COMPLETELY THE OPPOSITE!

Dark and full moons were considered DANGEROUS.

It was a time of open veil when the underworld forces were free to roam the surface of the earth.

Rather than bringing GODDESS vibes to bath in and manifest abundance...

Full and dark moons brought raiders, thieves, rapists and kidnappers.

And further, full moon rays were believed to bring LUNACY & MADNESS.

Hence, it was DANGEROUS..... And this danger was communicated as the undead forces ruling the earth's plane.

So what did they do?

STAYED INSIDE.

SEALED THE THRESHOLDS

PRAYED FOR THE SAFETY OF THEIR COMMUNITY

& WHILE THE VEILS WERE THIN....
.... The seers and druids peered into the OTHERWORLD for information for their community and their future paths.

Do I need to know how to sing:
- preferred but not essential.
Part of my singing circle will include voice and breath training

I'm not Celtic... Can I join?
Yes. Of course. Firstly, if you have UK ancestry then you probably ARE Celtic.
Second, Celtic music won't mind where your DNA comes from.

How much?
$15 for an hour and half

What will we sing:

When will we rehearse:
Thursday nights: 6.30 to 8pm. Will run something like: 6 weeks of Celtic sing, 2 weeks off.... Or some such variation.

Aim:
To fill the gap of musical singing options
This group will use sheet music
This group will learn correct breath technique
This group will be community oriented
This group will sing sacred music of the Celts and middle ages
This group will not be aiming for chorale perfection
This group will be aiming for spiritual connection for singers and audience.

Our Scottish ancestors were very protective of the energies passing through the doors and windows and into our houses.
It wasn't about fear or shutting out the world; it was a deep understanding of subtle energetic movement and the unresolved chaos that can bring!

Known as "Saining", Scots used to burn juniper leaves to clear the entry ways and protect their homes.

Or they collected water from particular landscapes in absolute silence. If they spoke to a neighbour on the way home from collecting silent water; the ritual was broken and the water was not effective.

You can replicate this at home by crushing and boiling juniper berries.
