As part of Dementia Action Week, Redland City Council is hosting free screenings of Mr Velvet Ears, followed by refreshments and a community conversation about dementia support and local services.

Energise & Socialise is an 8-week program designed to support seniors to stay active, connected and informed. 💛

Each weekly session combines gentle, clinician-led exercise with social connection over morning tea and a short education session covering topics relevant to seniors, including health, dementia, scams and digital safety.

For socially isolated seniors, access to transport can also make a vital difference in helping them participate, build relationships and to feel part of their community.

Energise & Socialise continues to deliver wonderful outcomes for both physical and emotional wellbeing, with participants reporting high levels of enjoyment and satisfaction.

It was fantastic to see so many members of our senior community coming together, getting involved and enjoying a great day of connection, movement and socialising. 💚

Allison was recognised for her fantastic work in successfully managing and coordinating our recent Aged Care Showcase at Renaissance Village. The event brought together 18 local businesses and community organisations to showcase their services, connect with our senior community and help raise awareness of the support available locally. A wonderful achievement and very well deserved recognition for Allison!

On Friday, the Dovida Queensland family came together at the Pullman Brisbane to celebrate under the stars and recognise a year of extraordinary contribution, resilience and heart across our Queensland network.

And we were incredibly proud to see Brisbane South & Redlands so strongly represented throughout the evening! 💙

🌟 Service Awards
We celebrated the wonderful commitment of those reaching 5 years with Dovida, including our very own Suzette Du Bois, Lisa Mercer and Maureen Jeffrey.

🏆 Leader of the Year
Congratulations to Aaron Meyers, named NAO Leader of the Year for his calm leadership through the transition to Support at Home and his commitment to helping his team grow in confidence and ownership.

Although Vicky and Aaron Meyers were the original owners of our Brisbane South & Redlands office, they continue to play such an important role in our services and support each week. We are incredibly fortunate that the strong connection remains very much mutual. 💙

A huge congratulations also to Ani Trushin – Brisbane South & Redlands, named Network Leader of the Year, recognised for her client-centred leadership and outstanding support of Care Managers navigating client budgets through one of the industry’s biggest reforms.

We were also very proud to see our own Leigh Horton nominated in this category.

🌟 Key Player of the Year
Another fantastic achievement for Brisbane South & Redlands, with Fiona Hammond named Network Key Player of the Year! Fiona was recognised for stepping up to lead client services and for the warmth and care she brings to every client and colleague interaction.

💙 Caregiver of the Year
Our wonderful Caregiver Julie was also nominated in this category. While she didn’t take home the award on the night, she is absolutely a winner in our eyes — and in the eyes of the clients, families and loved ones she supports every day.

🏆 Excellence in Quality Award
And to top off an incredible evening, Brisbane South & Redlands received the Excellence in Quality Award, recognising our team’s commitment to the highest standards of care and service.

We couldn’t be prouder of our Brisbane South & Redlands team — from our award winners and nominees to every person working behind the scenes and out in our community each day.

Had a wonderful time last week on the Macleay Island outing, the weather gods turned it on for us, bowls club had 👍🏼 up all around for service (both bus & club), food & location.

Dora had never visited the islands before so on her way back, her & Edith sat out the back, soaking it all in 🙌🏼

Feedback was that everyone had a very joyful day 🥰❤️
