It's Alopecia Awareness Month and we want to share what we know about this chronic illness

2% of the population experience Alopecia Areata (AA) during their lifetime.

AA does not discriminate - it affects men and women of every ethnicity equally.

Presents at every age - AA is present from infancy to later decades of life but is typically seen to affect people in their 20s-30s.

There are biological factors in the body that are beyond control of the individual that cause AA.

AA is perpetuated by a feed-forward loop involving IL-15 and IFN-y. One of the many ways they may signal through is through the JAK/STAT pathway.

Do you suffer with hyperpigmentation?
