My application of massage consist of a mixture of western and eastern style of remedial techniques. Western remedial massage treatmentconsists of checking the body's structural alignment and differentiate cause of pain, then followed by a process of treating muscles to aid structural alignment in order to ease pain. Techniques include trigger point, myofacial release, muscle energy technique, stre

tching and mobilisation. With eastern style of treatment (also known as traditional chinese medicine) consists of understanding patients’ health holistically, pinpointing the source of the manifested pain due to imbalance of organ/muscle function. TCM focuses on balance and maintaining the flow of qi, an energy force which keeps things alive. Using techniques such as cupping, moxibustion, and acupressure are used to achieve better qi circulation.

In Tai Chi, relaxation (fang song) is not collapse but a buoyant, structural openness that allows energy to sink and circulate freely—embodied in the practice of "settling at the lowest point," where weight drops fully into the feet and the center of gravity grounds deep into the earth. This principle echoes the Tao Te Ching, where Lao Tzu teaches that water "settles in places others disdain" and that the soft overcomes the hard, aligning us with the effortless flow of the Tao. This same release of physical and mental tension is, in Traditional Chinese Medicine, a powerful healing act: it smooths stagnant Liver Qi, calms the agitated Shen (spirit), lowers blood pressure, and improves circulation, all by simply ceasing to fight yourself. Across all three, relaxation is the master key—the Tao describes it, Tai Chi embodies it, and TCM proves it, because where tension blocks, settling restores the river of life.

Your Smoothie is Draining Your Energy! A Traditional Chinese Medicine Reality Check:

We’re told raw salads and iced smoothies are the ultimate health foods. But according to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), they might be doing more harm than good.

Here’s the truth: Your stomach is a "fire." It needs heat to cook and digest your food.

When you constantly eat raw, cold, or hard-to-digest foods, you're dumping water on that fire. Your body exhausts its energy reserves just trying to warm up your meal.

The result?

Bloating & gas (undigested food turns into "Dampness" sludge).

Chronic fatigue (your energy is spent on heating, not healing).

Brain fog (digestion stalls, energy drops).

Stomach pain...

The TCM fix? You don’t need to give up veggies. Just cook them!

Swap the raw kale salad for lightly steamed greens.

Trade the cold smoothie for a warm veggie soup.

Add warming spices like ginger, cinnamon, or black pepper to your meals.

Warm food = happy digestion = real, lasting energy. 🔥🥣

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), drinking water isn't a one-size-fits-all "8 glasses" rule. It's about listening to your body's signals rather than force-drinking by the clock.

The Golden Rule: Drink when thirsty, but only take a few sips at a time. Gulping large amounts can "drown" your Spleen (the organ responsible for transforming fluids), leading to dampness and bloating.

Key TCM Tips:

· Temperature matters: Warm or room-temperature water is best. Cold water constricts qi and slows digestion.
· Sip, don't chug: Think of it as "watering a plant" — slow and steady.

· Morning ritual: A cup of warm water upon waking helps move qi and gently wakes up the digestive system.

· Listen to your body: If your tongue is pale, wet, and swollen, you likely don't need much water. If your tongue is red and dry, your body is signaling for hydration.

Bottom line: Drink to satisfy thirst, prefer warmth, and always sip mindfully. Your digestive fire will thank you. 🍵
