Whilst we laugh and joke about this, anyone who’s already a client will know I ask about this at almost every appointment.
A lot of people are already in the habit of looking, but if you’ve not taken the plunge into the toilet bowl (hopefully not literally haha 😝🤣), you’re not the only one. There are many people who are a little resistant to this.
It’s quite an important thing to do though and here’s 2 good reasons why:
1. The presence of blood or mucus in bowel movements can be the sign of inflammatory bowel disease (like Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis or coeliac’s), infections or cancer, and it’s important to get treated asap
2. The colour and formation of bowel movements can tell us a lot about the health of the digestive tract. If you’re not digesting food properly or suffering from gut dysfunction, this can affect the health of the entire body, so it’s important to take this seriously
So make a start today and before you know it you’ll be a Bristol Stool Scale expert and start to take charge of your gut health 😊
