The side effects are real, but so are the fixes, and most of them come down to what's on your plate.
Nausea, constipation, fatigue, thinning hair, reflux. Almost everyone eases when you eat protein first, drink enough water, and work with your slowed digestion instead of against it.

The women who feel really rough on a GLP-1 are usually the ones eating almost nothing. Your body still needs fuel, even when your appetite is gone.
If a symptom is severe or sticking around, always check in with your GP. Food does a lot, and it works best alongside your prescriber.

Losing more hair than usual on GLP-1 Medication? Here's the nutrition side of it.
 
Rapid weight loss can trigger temporary hair shedding -- it's a stress response from the follicle. It's also completely reversible. But if you're under-eating at the same time, you're likely short on the nutrients your hair needs to grow back.
 
The three to focus on: protein (your hair is made of it), iron (get a full panel done if you're shedding), and zinc -- found in red meat, eggs, and pumpkin seeds.
 
Eat enough at every meal. Your hair will catch up.

The medication quietens the food noise. What you do with that quiet is everything.

Most women on a GLP-1 are told almost nothing about the food side. So, they eat less, lose weight, and feel like it's working, while their body quietly borrows from their muscles and the habits underneath never change. Then the medication stops, the noise comes back, and the weight often follows.

It doesn't have to go that way. The quiet you have right now is the easiest time you'll ever get to build habits that hold. Protein first. Eat by the clock. Notice the patterns while they're quiet enough to hear.

If you're doing everything right and still not losing weight, cortisol might be the missing conversation.

Stress -- from work, family, the mental load, and even restriction -- keeps cortisol elevated. Elevated cortisol signals fat storage, drives cravings, and makes consistent healthy eating significantly harder.

This isn't a willpower problem. It's a hormonal response. And it's one of the main reasons I work on both nutrition and mindset at the same time.

Nausea on GLP-1 Medication? Here's what's actually going on.
 
GLP-1 medication slows gastric emptying -- food stays in your stomach longer. That's part of how it works. But it also means your stomach gets overwhelmed easily.
 
The things that make it worse: eating too quickly, big portions, and high-fat or greasy foods.
The things that help: smaller meals, slowing right down, staying upright after eating, ginger tea, and sips of room-temperature water.
 
It's manageable. Most women just aren't told any of this when they're handed the prescription.
