This is a TENS machine in action. And yes, we teach you exactly how to use one. 🧡

Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation sounds complicated. In practice it is one of the simplest and most effective tools available for managing pain in early labour.

Small electrode pads are placed on your lower back. Gentle electrical pulses stimulate the nervous system and interrupt pain signals before they reach the brain. You hold the device. You control the intensity. You increase it during contractions and dial it back in between.

It will not take the pain away entirely. But having something in your hands that you control during labour is more powerful than most people realise.

We demonstrate and practise TENS machines in every Born Ready face-to-face workshop because there is a significant difference between knowing how something works and actually using it.
This is the kind of practical, hands-on preparation that sets Born Ready graduates apart.

This one is for the birth partners. 🧡

Whether you are a partner, a parent, a best friend, or a support person of any kind - if you are going to be in that room, you deserve to feel just as prepared as the person giving birth.

In the Born Ready practical workshop, birth partners learn how to physically support their person through contractions, guide breathing and positioning, use a TENS machine, and advocate clearly and calmly when decisions need to be made quickly.

You do not need to have all the answers. You just need to be prepared. And that is exactly what we are here to help with.

Partners are included in every Born Ready workshop at no additional cost.

There is a particular kind of calm that comes from feeling truly prepared. 🧡

Not the absence of uncertainty. Birth will always hold some of that. But a deep, grounded confidence in your own body and your own knowledge that means when labour begins, you are ready to meet it.

That is what Born Ready is here to give you.

If you are pregnant and that quiet voice is asking whether you are truly prepared, we would love to help you answer that question with a yes.

Sneak Peek Friday is here and this week we are going inside one of the most practical modules in the entire Born Ready course. 🧡

First stage labour can be long. And having a toolkit of evidence-based pain relief strategies ready to go before you need them is one of the most empowering things you can do to prepare for it.

In this module we cover everything available to you during first stage labour. Movement and position changes. Heat and water. Breathing strategies. TENS machines. Massage and counter pressure. And when and how to use each one so that you are not guessing in the moment.

This is not a vague overview. This is practical, physio-led education that gives you real tools, real technique, and real confidence going into one of the most physically demanding experiences of your life.

Because walking into labour with a toolkit you actually know how to use changes everything.

Your baby does not take a straight path into the world. 🧡

During labour your baby completes seven precise movements through your pelvis, known as the cardinal movements. Each one is your baby and your body working together to navigate a pathway that is both snug and complex.

Understanding what these movements are, why they happen, and what you can do to support them, is one of the most empowering things you can take into your birth.

Position matters. Movement matters. A relaxed pelvic floor matters. All of it influences how efficiently your baby moves through each stage.

This is exactly what we teach in the Born Ready course and in every face-to-face workshop, because when you understand what is happening inside your body, labour stops being something that happens to you and becomes something you are genuinely ready for.

Save this. Share it. This is the kind of education every pregnant person deserves. 🧡

Something shifts in people during a Born Ready workshop. 🧡

They walk in with questions, uncertainty, and often a quiet undercurrent of fear about what birth is going to feel like.

They leave with something different.

Not a guarantee. Not a perfect birth plan. But a genuine, grounded confidence that comes from actually understanding what their body is going to do and knowing they have the tools to work with it.

That is what a pelvic health physiotherapist in a room full of couples, birth balls, and honest evidence-based education can do.

And it is available to you too.

Workshops run monthly across Australia through our network of affiliated clinics. Every workshop is included as part of your Born Ready course enrolment.

This is what preparation looks like in practice. 🧡

Leaning over a birth ball in a supported kneeling position is one of the most effective positions for managing contractions during labour. It takes pressure off your lower back, encourages your baby into an optimal position, and gives your body the space it needs to do its work.

And this is exactly why we do not just talk about these positions in the Born Ready workshop. We get on the floor and feel them.

Because there is a significant difference between hearing about a position and actually knowing what it feels like in your body. The latter is what helps you remember it when you need it most.

This is real birth preparation. Hands-on, physio-led, and designed to make sure that when labour begins, you and your birth partner are genuinely ready.

We get asked this one a lot. 🧡

The honest answer is earlier than most people think.

We recommend starting the Born Ready course from around 24 to 28 weeks. This gives you enough time to work through the online content at a comfortable pace, book into your face-to-face practical workshop before spots fill, and actually absorb and practise what you have learned before your due date.

That said, it is never too late. We have had people complete the course at 36 weeks and still walk into birth feeling genuinely prepared.

The most important thing is that you start. Because even a few weeks of good preparation is infinitely better than none.

Your baby does not just slide out in a straight line. 🧡

During labour your baby has to navigate a series of precise rotations through your pelvis - movements that are as remarkable as they are complex. Understanding what is happening inside your body during this process is one of the most empowering things you can do to prepare for birth.

This is exactly what we teach in the Born Ready course and in every face-to-face workshop. Using models like this one, we show you exactly what your baby is doing, why certain positions help, and how your body and your baby work together during labour.

Because when you can see it and understand it, it stops being something that happens to you and starts being something you are genuinely ready for.
