This is a TENS machine in action. And yes, we teach you exactly how to use one. 🧡
Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation sounds complicated. In practice it is one of the simplest and most effective tools available for managing pain in early labour.
Small electrode pads are placed on your lower back. Gentle electrical pulses stimulate the nervous system and interrupt pain signals before they reach the brain. You hold the device. You control the intensity. You increase it during contractions and dial it back in between.
It will not take the pain away entirely. But having something in your hands that you control during labour is more powerful than most people realise.
We demonstrate and practise TENS machines in every Born Ready face-to-face workshop because there is a significant difference between knowing how something works and actually using it.
This is the kind of practical, hands-on preparation that sets Born Ready graduates apart.
