A SOUND LIFE Helping people in need build the resilience to cope with adversity through music, yoga and meditation

A Sound Life helps people in need build the resilience required to cope with adversity and stress. We do this by using music, yoga and meditation to reinstate harmony between their hearts and minds. The most vulnerable people in our communities often have the least access to the tools for transformation, resilience, connection and empowerment. We are committed to changing that and to helping them

confidently surf the waves of life and realise they can experience complete joy within their lives. Since 2014, we’ve serviced over 50 facilities, positively impacting over 30,000 people in our community who need it the most. We have over 350 committed ASL volunteers who have delivered over 2,500 free music, yoga and meditation sessions to date. These numbers are a testament to who we are as an organisation, the culture we have created, our ambition and dedication, what we’ve achieved and the way we serve. Our compassionate and committed team of skilled volunteers include musicians, yoga and meditation teachers. These volunteers deliver regular programs to people in health care facilities such as hospitals and disability centres, while also delivering programs to underserved communities such as youth at risk and women's shelters. We’ve witnessed the joy and resilience our tools can deliver time and time again, which is why we are so sure they can make a difference to all lives and why we're energised to do just that.

Today, World Music Day and International Day of Yoga fall on the same date it is something worth celebrating!

At A Sound Life, music and mindfulness are the forces behind everything we do. Every day, we see the power of music and movement to create connection, support wellbeing, and help people reconnect with themselves and others.

Here's to the universal languages that bring us together. 🎵🧘

As we wrap up Mens Mental Health week, Jordan shares some of the rituals and practices that support his mental wellbeing.

For some people it’s exercise. For others it’s time in nature, talking with friends, music, meditation, journalling, therapy or simply slowing down long enough to check in with themselves.

The goal isn’t to have the perfect routine. It’s to find the things that help you feel grounded, connected and more like yourself. Mental health looks different for everyone, but the conversation matters for all of us.

What is one thing you do to take care of your mental health? We’d love to hear it below. ❤️

What if your voice is more powerful than you realise?

This is exactly what happened to Edo on his journey with the voice.

Research suggests that chanting, humming, and vocalisation may support nervous system regulation by stimulating the vagus nerve, slowing breathing patterns and activating the body’s relaxation response. The vibrations created through sound can also help bring awareness back into the body and promote a greater sense of calm and presence.

For thousands of years, cultures around the world have used mantra, prayer and song as tools for healing, community and connection. Today, science is beginning to explore why these practices can feel so powerful.

The medicine is already within us. 🎵

Today, for Refugee Week, we were deeply grateful to bring an A Sound Life music session to the Asylum Seekers Centre in Newtown.

It was a beautiful reminder of what music can do. It can soften a room, create connection beyond words, and offer a moment of calm, joy and belonging.

To everyone who welcomed us so warmly, thank you. Our hearts were full being in community with you and sharing music together.

Refugee Week is an important time to honour the strength, stories and humanity of people seeking safety, and to remember that everyone deserves to feel seen, supported and connected.

A chat with Gus for this Men’s Mental Health Week, we’re reminded that connection can change lives.

For many men, reaching out can feel difficult. Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is check in, listen without judgement, and remind each other that we don’t have to carry everything alone.

This week, check in on a mate, ask how they’re really doing and if you’re struggling yourself, know that reaching out is a sign of strength, not weakness.

We see every day how important connection is, and nobody should have to navigate life alone. 👐❤️
