Social media has us thinking that eating well means ‘being in control’ of your eating habits. Want to know the truth? Eating well means you’re not actually trying to ‘control’ your eating, you’re just eating in a calm and flexible way that responds to what your body tells you. Feeling like a chicken & salad sandwich for lunch? Yum! Feeling like takeaway pizza for lunch? Also ok 👍🏼

I know it can feel scary to let go of trying to control your eating. I’ve been there myself! If you want to try a diet-free approach to your eating, you don’t have to do it alone. Our dietitians can guide you every step of the way on your journey to truly eating well.

Are you finding recovery especially hard right now? It’s normal for your capacity for recovery to fluctuate, and there’s nothing wrong with you if you’re not able to manage as much today as you did yesterday. Give yourself permission to make things easier where you can and remind yourself that you don’t have to do recovery “perfectly” ❤️

I’ve seen some dodgy posts about food freedom lately - usually from people who are still stuck in diet culture. Food freedom won’t come from forcing yourself to not eat food! True food freedom is about letting go of the food rules and learning to trust yourself to make eating decisions that feel good physically and mentally 🍩 🥕 🥯 🥦 🍟

It can feel scary to think about eating without rules, so that’s why it’s important to work with a non-diet dietitian who can guide you through the recovery process. Our dietitians have availability to work with people right now - message us if you’d like to find out more ☺️

We live in a society that’s so obsessed with being thin that we’re tricked into thinking the only way to feel good about ourselves is to shrink our bodies 😫 This is the opposite of what the research tells us we need to have a positive body image! The more you try to control your body size, the worse you’re likely to feel. Instead, there’s the opportunity to make peace with your body and accept it for the unique size and shape that it is 😌 You can be in a bigger body and love your body. It might take some time to get there, but there’s so much support available for you if you want to try. The website has some great info on body image and your can call their free helpline 1800 ED HOPE for support 🦋

Weight-loss injections promise relief from food noise but this relief only lasts as long as you take the medication. When you stop, the food noise comes back - often louder than it was before! To truly feel calm and relaxed around food you need to let go of the diet mindset. This won’t happen overnight and it’ll take work, but I guarantee it’s worth it 😊

Here’s what you need to do if you feel like food noise rules your life, and it doesn’t involve dieting or medication: you need to let go of trying to control your eating. The more pressure you put on yourself to eat fewer calories, eat less “unhealthy” food, stop snacking etc. the more restricted you’ll feel and the louder the food noise will become. The solution to food noise is less control, not more. If you need support to let go of controlling your eating, we’re here to help you every step of the way.
