Lung cancer often develops without noticeable symptoms in its early stages. For people at increased risk, low-dose CT screening can play an important role in detecting lung cancer earlier, when more treatment options may be available.

Imaging Associates participates in the National Lung Cancer Screening Program, which provides eligible participants access to low-dose CT screening as part of a structured approach to early detection.

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, an opportunity to raise awareness of prostate cancer and encourage men to be proactive about their health.

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting Australian men. When further investigation is required, prostate MRI provides detailed images of the prostate and surrounding tissues, assisting doctors in assessing areas of concern and informing clinical management.

A CT Calcium Score is a CT scan used to assess calcified plaque in the coronary arteries. The results can assist your doctor in assessing cardiovascular risk alongside factors such as cholesterol, family history and other risk factors.

The scan uses a low dose of radiation and does not require IV contrast. Preparation requirements can vary, so your clinic will provide any relevant instructions before your appointment. The scan itself typically takes around five minutes.

A fantastic evening at IKON Park last week, bringing together GPs and healthcare professionals to discuss the assessment and management of hip and groin pain.

Held at IKON Park, home to both Carlton Football Club and Imaging Associates Carlton, the RACGP-accredited educational dinner explored the role of clinical assessment, imaging and evidence-based management in helping patients return to activity and maintain function.

Thank you to Dr Mark Rassie, Clinical Director Carlton and MSK Radiologist, and Dr Andrew Long, MSK Radiologist, for sharing their expertise, and to Dr Matt Chamberlain, Head Doctor, Carlton Football Club, and Dr Chris Hasenkam, Sport and Exercise Physician, for an engaging Q&A that provided valuable perspectives from both elite sport and everyday clinical practice.
