Another great walking initiative for our community

💚 More than a Walk

Every step starts a conversation. Every conversation creates hope.

Join us this Mental Health Awareness Month for ‘More than a Walk’ - a community event hosted by the Gladstone Junior and Senior Youth Council, for ages 14+ that brings people together to walk, connect and support positive wellbeing.

🚶‍♀️ We’ll begin with a community walk, then gather at Sun & Bar Café for a FREE brunch and an opportunity to hear from guest speakers sharing inspiring stories of hope, resilience and recovery.

Together, we’ll celebrate self-care, encourage meaningful conversations, and strengthen the connections that help our community thrive.

Hey everyone this is going to be my final post under Walking4Warriors. After 15yrs of volunteering in the community and 6yrs building and leading this organisation its time for me to officially retire from my roles and responsibilities. I am going to take some time to focus on myself and my family especially my wife as we work together to build our home in Turkey beach. We will continue to support the organisation and the community through sharing access to our property and the bush retreat that Walking4Warriors has created.
Its been one of the greatest achievements of my life to be part of building this organisation and supporting the community especially when it comes to the work we do to support mental health as well as the opportunity to give something to our Veterans and 1st Responders. Hopefully ill get to continue to have relationships with many of you in the future.
Stay resilient, be courageous, endure and ultimately stay alive.

Event planning for the 2027 endurance challenge is currently underway, incorporating several elements to enhance the experience. We invite suggestions for our event shirt design. Meanwhile, we welcome businesses interested in sponsorship opportunities to contact us.

In case you missed tonight’s announcement

I think our biggest feel Good Friday was informing Young Veterans Central Queensland that we are giving them $14,000 after our fundraising efforts at the endurance challenge. That’s $14,000 thanks to our participants registration money supporting the good work that YVCQ do in support of our local veterans, families and community.

Additional funds from merch sales, raffle tickets and the bbq, go into our community through Walking4Warriors activities and programs such as our pay it forward coffee program at mindcare cafe, our group walks from Bobs Garage, hikes, bbqs and whatever else we come up with over the next 12 months.

Thank you to our fabulous community and sponsors who help us achieve yet again over $20,000 for our community.
