Term 4 is coming. 🌿
The final stretch of the school year can feel a little harder for some children and teens.
If you’re wondering what might help your child finish the year well and feel more prepared for next year, I’d love to chat.
Sometimes we just need to find the right place to start. ♡

A little Mrs B Moment. 🌿
Sometimes we're so busy trying to work out why a child is struggling that we forget to check the really simple things first.
Have they eaten?
Are they tired?
Have they had a chance to move?
Do they need a drink?
Are they simply… done?
Bodies matter.
And sometimes the most helpful response isn't another strategy.
Sometimes it's a snack. ❤️
Understand first. Connect always.

Country Kids Connection 🌿
Real connection. No matter the distance.

Sometimes it can be hard for country kids to find other young people who understand their experiences — especially when friendship, confidence and big feelings can already feel tricky.

Country Kids Connection is a small online holiday group for neurodivergent young people aged 8–16, bringing kids from across WA together to connect, have fun and build practical social and emotional skills.

We’ll keep the groups small — maximum 6 young people — with groups matched by age:
🌱 8–10 | Little Connections
Making friends, understanding feelings and finding your people.
🌈 11–13 | Stronger Together
Friendships, confidence, social cues and navigating the in-between.
🌊 14–16 | Real, Relevant, You
Connection, communication, boundaries, identity and everyday life.

The first holiday mini-series includes:
💻 2 × 60-minute online sessions
👥 Small groups of up to 6
🌿 $60 per mini-series
A relaxed space to connect, share, learn and be yourself — without needing to be the loudest or most confident person in the group.
And if the groups are a good fit, there may be opportunities to continue building those connections during term.
Real connection. No matter the distance. ❤️

Sometimes what looks like “won’t” is actually “can’t yet.”

A child can know what they need to do, want to do it, and still find getting started surprisingly hard.

Beginning requires skills — organising, shifting attention, knowing where to start, managing the feelings that come with a task and getting past that first step.

These skills aren't always visible.

And when we only see the behaviour — “They’re refusing.” “They’re avoiding it.” “Why won’t they just start?” — we can miss the skill underneath.

Beginning is a skill.
And skills can be taught. ♡

This is why I love looking beyond the behaviour and asking:

What is this child finding hard right now?

Sometimes understanding the skill changes the way we respond.

Sometimes behaviour is the part we can see — but there's often so much more underneath it.

What might change if we got curious before we got corrective? 🌿

"Kids do well when they can." ❤️

It's a simple sentence, but it can completely change the way we see our children.

When we understand what's happening beneath the behaviour, we stop asking, "Why won't they listen?" and start asking, "What is getting in their way?"

That shift opens the door to more connection, less conflict, and practical strategies that support your child's unique brain.

If you're feeling overwhelmed, you're not alone. Together, we can build a toolkit that helps everyday life feel a little easier—for you and your child. 💚
