Flu spreads easily and can cause serious illness.

The flu vaccine is free for all Queenslanders aged 6 months and over. You can get the free flu vaccine if you live in Queensland, even if you do not have a Medicare card.

Children aged 2 to 5 (before they turn 6) can get their flu vaccine as a needle-free nasal spray. Older children and young people aged 6 to 17 years, (before they turn 18), can also get the nasal spray vaccine if they struggle with needles.

Vaccination helps reduce your risk of severe illness and hospitalisation, and protects the people around you.

You can get vaccinated through your GP, pharmacy or vaccination provider.

Let’s protect what matters. Search ‘flu facts Qld’ to find out more.

📚✨ Now in Store: Tariku ✨📚
Looking for a powerful, thought-provoking read? Tariku is now available at Where the Wild Things Are Book— a bookshop that celebrates stories with heart, culture, and meaning.

Co-created by Mater Refugee and Multicultural Health Service with input from children and families from refugee backgrounds. It is drawing on stories from children of diverse backgrounds. The author is Andrea Baldwin, and it is illustrated by Kogu Kichmarenko with additional artwork by Uma Ahmed.

The book was created in honour of the late Dr David Levitt from Children's Health Queensland, who was committed to refugee health during his life. Until his passing in 2023, Dr Levitt was a devoted paediatrician with a deep passion for caring for refugee children and their families. His long-term commitment to the healthcare rights of children, and his pivotal role in establishing and sustaining the paediatric clinic for children from refugee backgrounds. His legacy continues to benefit refugee communities today.

All proceeds from this book will go towards reprints to give to newly arrived refugee background families.
