Your daughter will be bullied.
No one escapes it during their tween and teen years.
Your daughter may also be the bully at some stage.
I don't believe we will ever stamp it out because it is a human connection dynamic, and it's a process young people go through to understand their place, their identity, and social norms. It doesn't mean it is ok.
And we are powerless to help our young people navigate it.
We will be running a 6‑week 'navigating friendships' program where the girls will explore:
Growing good friends a & Belonging - Foundations of friendship and where I belong
Fighting Fair & Everyday Meanness - Boundaries, Conflict
and Drama
Understanding Power & Staying Safe - Bullying, Power and the Hurt behind the Hurt
Brave Allies * Everyday Heroes - Standing up and standing with
Choosing Health Friendships - To fix it or step back
GEM - Gratitude, Empathy & Mindfulness
In broader terms, the girls will learn what makes a good friend, how to set and respect boundaries, communicate with “I feel” and “I’m sorry” statements, manage gossip and conflict, and how to observe and act on unacceptable behaviour, all while strengthening their self-esteem through gratitude, empathy, and mindfulness in a small, supportive group.
They'll learn practical tools they can fall back on, in a fun, safe, and supportive environment where they realise they’re not alone.
