Can’t stop at a few squares of chocolate? 🍫

High intensity cardio for fat loss? ⤵️

I’ve been hitting a lot of cardio (about 20km of running per week) for the past 5 months in preparation for a race at the start of June.

While fat loss wasn’t my goal, here’s what I noticed:
- My hunger has been hard to manage, I noticed it spikes a lot after a run and I’m grabbing for food I don’t really need
- My muscle mass is down - I’ve had to sacrifice one of my weights sessions to fit in more running, so less progressive load to retain muscle
- My body fat % & weight is up - high intensity cardio spikes cortisol which triggers fat storage
- I’ve lost definition in my legs / abs - overall I feel softer

Is this a pity party? No!

I’m just noticing my body is changing in exactly the way that I tell my clients it happens when you hammer cardio & don’t prioritise weights, and I’m excited to get back to usual programming after the race.

As soon as the race is done, I’m going treat myself like my own client for a 3-month program to change my body composition🤸🏻‍♀️
