12 YEARS OF YOGA ALMA 🤍 A little snippet!
What began as a little spark of YINspiration while I was living at the foot of a gigantic volcano in Costa Rica has somehow become 12 years of teaching, learning, travelling, gathering, retreating, training and sharing this work around the world.
Back then it was called Yoga Arenal.
I had been through my own healing journey and felt an undeniable pull to share the practices and wisdom that had changed the way I understood my body, myself and life.
That little spark eventually became Yoga Alma.
It became a studio in Brisbane from 2017–2020, a home for hundreds of students and practitioners. Then came the online portals, trainings, retreats and communities that allowed this work to travel far beyond the walls of a studio.
And somewhere along the way, I realised that what we were sharing was never something that could easily be put into a box called Yoga or Chinese Medicine.
Because underneath the postures, the meridians, the elements, the Qi Gong, the philosophy and the practices, there is something much more human happening.
Relationship.
How we relate to ourselves.
How we relate to one another.
How we relate to our bodies, our emotions, nature and the mystery of being alive.
After 12 years, this is what I understand most deeply:
Every human being yearns for deeper connection.
To be seen. To be understood. To understand themselves. To feel that they belong to something beyond the small world of the individual self.
And I think this is where these ancient practices become so powerful.
They give us ways of understanding the nature within us and the nature around us. They remind us that healing is relational. That consciousness is relational. That how we meet ourselves inevitably shapes how we meet each other and the world.
Over these 12 years I have had the privilege of witnessing these practices inspire people to live with greater consciousness, connection and compassion. And that is what I feel most grateful for. 🙏
To every student who has walked into a class, travelled across the world for a retreat, trusted us with their training, practiced with us online, cried with us, laughed with us, questioned with us and grown alongside us...
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
And to the incredible teachers and humans who have been part of the Yoga Alma journey with me, thank you for helping carry this work into the world.
If you have been to a Yoga Alma class, training or retreat over the years, or you suddenly spot yourself in one of these photos, give me a HOLA! 👋
I would LOVE to hear what you remember.
What stayed with you?
What changed for you?
What did this work awaken or inspire in your life?
Share it below so we can keep passing this magic from human to human, around the world.
For the LOVE withYIN.
