When living with a disability, illness or injury, the challenges can feel never ending some days. The mountains you have to climb just to get through routine tasks are exhausting and demoralizing at times.

You don't have to carry the weight of it all on your shoulders every day. Breaking it down into smaller, more manageable pieces can help keep the path ahead from feeling so overwhelming. Every little achievement is something to celebrate, because you're proof that progress is possible.

Did you make you get out of bed today after a restless night with insomnia? That's something to be grateful for. Did you manage to switch from loathing that mid-afternoon brain fog to practicing some mindfulness? What a wonderful moment of self care! The small wins are tremendous when you're battling daily challenges, and, could change your mindset for the day ahead.

For too long, society has made unfair assumptions and placed limitations on what people with disabilities can achieve or the kind of lives they can live. This mindset of low expectations is deeply flawed and harmful.

The disability rights movement and growing societal awareness is helping to break down these barriers and biases. By advocating for accessibility, accommodations, and shedding light on the capabilities of those with disabilities, we are moving in a positive direction of true inclusion and equality of opportunity.

Just as society evolves with new fashion trends and musical genres, it is vital that our attitudes evolve as well to embrace the diversity of the human experience, including disability. When we open our minds, make environments accessible, and provide people with the right supports and accommodations, the possibilities are endless for those with disabilities to live full, enriching lives and make valuable contributions.
