Did you know there are several different types of cataracts?

👁️ Nuclear cataracts affect the centre of the lens and often make distant objects appear blurry.

👁️ Cortical cataracts develop around the outer edge of the lens and can cause glare and sensitivity to bright light.

👁️ Posterior subcapsular cataracts form at the back of the lens and can affect both near and distance vision.

👁️ Cataracts can also occur in children, although this is less common.

Knowing the signs of cataracts can help people seek treatment earlier and prevent unnecessary vision loss.

Through the IRIS program, we're helping bring specialist eye care and cataract surgery closer to home for communities across remote Australia.

👁️ June is Cataract Awareness Month 👁️

Did you know approximately half of Australians aged between 65 and 74 have some form of cataract, increasing to more than 70% of people over the age of 75?

A cataract develops when the eye's natural lens becomes cloudy, causing blurred or hazy vision and making everyday activities more difficult.

At Vanguard Health, cataract surgery is a key part of the services we help deliver across Australia. Through programs including IRIS, we're helping patients access sight-restoring surgery closer to home, improving quality of life and reducing avoidable vision loss.

Because seeing clearly can change everything.

During National Reconciliation Week, we take time to reflect on the role each of us can play in supporting reconciliation.

The 2026 theme, All In, reminds us that meaningful progress comes through ongoing learning, understanding and action.

At Vanguard Health, we are committed to supporting healthcare access across Australia and value the importance of strong partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, organisations and healthcare providers.

Together, we can continue working towards a healthier and more connected future.

Vanguard Health is proud to be partnering with Nganampa Health Council to support healthcare services across the north-west of South Australia.

Through this new partnership, we will help provide healthcare professionals to communities throughout the APY Lands, supporting access to care in remote areas where healthcare workforce shortages can have a significant impact.

We’re excited to work alongside Nganampa Health Council and support the important healthcare services being delivered to local communities.

Celebrating Siobhan’s two year anniversary with Vanguard Health.

Siobhan has worked across a number of roles during her time with us, supporting both our payroll and surgical services teams along the way. Her flexibility and commitment have made a real difference across the business.

Thanks for a great two years, Siobhan. We look forward to many more!
