Can we unite the world to improve awareness of aphasia?

Aphasia researchers already do it!

The Collaboration of Aphasia Trialists (CATs) brings together an international network of >300 multidisciplinary aphasia researchers from 41 countries and 43 languages and across all career stages.

Our international aphasia awareness campaign is embedded into CAT’s.

There have been many excellent aphasia awareness campaigns.

The National Aphasia Association in the US have run several campaigns over the years including Aphasia, and during their Aphasia Awareness month.

Speakability in the UK ran campaign.

Aphasia Recovery Connection ran
campaign during Month in October 2021.

These are in addition to giving talks about aphasia, displaying posters about aphasia, making movies and YouTube videos about aphasia, and sharing personal stories and infographics on Facebook etc.

What if we all joined together and shared the same message at the same time, everywhere?

We want to implement the campaign around the world at the same time - in June 2027. Why?

Many aphasia organisations around the world have adopted June as “Aphasia Awareness Month”, however there is still some variation as to when observances for aphasia occur in different countries.

For example,

October is the aphasia awareness month and 20th October is International Aphasia Day designated by the Association Internationale Aphasie (AIA)

August/September in Stroke Week in Australia is Wednesday Without Words led by the Australian Aphasia Association

Does your country have an aphasia awareness day, week or month?
