🌍 Why is this international aphasia awareness campaign different?

Around the world, people with aphasia, families, clinicians, researchers and organisations have created wonderful awareness campaigns. 💚💙

This campaign builds on that work by bringing three things together:

1️⃣ One message, shared at the same time

Our codesign team agreed that a clear, consistent message can help the public better understand aphasia.

📣 One message. Many voices. Global impact.

2️⃣ An international approach 🌎

Alongside important local, regional and national activities, this campaign will coordinate people and organisations worldwide around the same message and campaign period — making aphasia harder to overlook.

3️⃣ Evaluation 📊

We will learn what works, which messages connect with the public and how future awareness campaigns can be even more effective.

💚💙 This isn’t about starting again.

It’s about building on excellent existing work, connecting people internationally and creating stronger momentum for aphasia awareness.

Together, we can make aphasia visible and change understanding. 🌍💚💙

🎉 Happy 1st Birthday to Match the Momentum! 🎉

One year ago today, we launched the Match the Momentum campaign with a bold vision—to create a global aphasia awareness campaign that will shine a spotlight on aphasia in June next year.

What an incredible year it’s been!

🥳 Together, we’ve raised an amazing AUD $86,664 to attract matched funding and bring this vision closer to reality.

🥳 We’ve built a wonderful and growing Facebook community, united by a shared commitment to increasing awareness and improving the lives of people living with aphasia.

🥳 None of this would have been possible without our incredible volunteer admin team. A heartfelt thank you to Emma, Kim, Joanie, Claire, Linda, and Carly. Your enthusiasm, creativity, and commitment have helped make this community thrive.

This first year has laid the foundation for something truly special—but the best is still to come.

🚀 Over the coming months, we’ll be revealing exciting campaign plans, sharing inspiring stories, growing our community, and counting down to our international aphasia awareness campaign in June.

Social media can be wonderful for things like our campaign to raise awareness about aphasia, but it does open us up to scammers like this.

Have you found any?

So bored of this constant crap 💩 so many "therapists" offering 100% stroke recovery.

No therapy on the planet is fixing Jan's fine motor skills!! 😠
