Today, we’d like to join in celebrating Cancer Nurses Day, a celebration of the largest health professional group within Australia’s cancer workforce.
Cancer nurses are strong, skilled and specialised professionals who bring expert knowledge, clinical excellence, leadership and compassion to every stage of the cancer journey. They support people affected by cancer through diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, supportive care and end-of-life care, while also driving improvements through education, research and advocacy.
At Skin Cancer College Australasia, we're listening to nurses across Australasia to better understand their roles, the challenges they face and how we can support their continued professional development. The nursing profession plays an invaluable role in reducing the burden of disease caused by Australasia's most common cancer, and we're working alongside nurses to build resources and community that will empower them to make an even greater contribution.
